Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm guessing you're not talking about the GNOME software component architecture.

Yeah, because that just violates the laws of nature....

What is even happening?

I know that oxytocin is thought to have a strong role in bonding, is triggered for secretion in many situations—sex, labor, lactation, etc.—but these claims that you can have permanent depletion of oxytocin levels by too much sex?

All right, putting aside for the moment that the term 'purity balls' leaves me less mature than 12, the above is not a restatement of the claim it's purporting to debunk (which could stand some debunking). The claim it's purporting to debunk is, "People who have misused their sexual faculty and become bonded to multiple persons will diminish the power of oxytocin to maintain a permanent bond with an individual."

They're different claims. Still probably freakball, but why bring a whole new freakball into the equation (when we have purity balls t / I < 12 )?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Went to sleep earlier than usual last night and that seems to have driven out the demon headache.

I have to vacuum the house because my parents are staying with us this weekend.(Family Bat Mitzvah, and they're heading to Florida afterwards.)

It's only 4:30, and I feel like this. Can I go to sleep now, please?

You should write PZ. He's a smart guy and would probably admit his mistake.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

True, that. I suspect he was reacting to the "too much sex will leave you unable to LOVE!" part and skimmed over the specifics of the craxxy pseudoscience.

Really, don't click on the link if you're not in the mood to get angry....

Why can't we have a bonobo to run the federal reproductive health programs?

Cause then men would be hanging from the trees, penis fencing with each other.

and we'd be taking pictures.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Don't we already have this at frat parties?

IIRC, bonoboes are the only primate other than man who can recognize their reflection in the mirror as themselves, and not as a separate animal. (Elephants can do this, too.)
