"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

One of the best shows Fox ever canceled.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I wish Mark Warner hadn't announced he wouldn't run for President. He wouldda been great, IMVHA.

I'm seeing some speculation on the interwebs this morning that it's not actually a done deal, FWIW.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

One of the best shows Fox ever canceled.

Dude, that's a long list.

And it has to get behind Firefly and Wonderfalls and The Tick and Futurama, The Inside and possibly Action.

I like it better than all those. Tick would be next in line though.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I would have agreed with you at one time, but I just don't have any respect for McCain anymore. He has toed the party line way too much for my taste. He also caved on the torture bill. He was one of the few people who had some honest to God cred on this issue and he folded like a big ball of bitch.

He had my support right up until that point. But as awful as it is for someone with no real connection to the issue to greenlight official use of torture, it's a true abomination for someone with firsthand experience of the receiving end to do so. I see the congressional record on that little bit of legislation guiding my vote in elections for the next several decades. A yes vote there didn't strike me so much as saying "yay security!" or "yay conservatism!" as "yay EVIL!"

I didn't think I'd get a chance to vote for Obama prior to 2012, but he's got my vote if he wants it. I think Feingold is eminently sensible and likeable, and in less dire circumstances I'd be glad to have him as President. But I think things have gotten bad enough that we need a Roosevelt or Kennedy, and Obama is the only politician on either side who gives off that sort of vibe to me.

Careful, I edited to put the ME shows back in. I think I must've selectively blocked out their Fox-iness to ease the pain.

brillig

I was given tapes with Profit on it, and I'm afraid I couldn't stand it. Kudos for being edgy and completely unexpected for broacast TV, but when I'm looking at the cast of characters and thinking, "I hope you *all* fall down an elevator shaft", it's not the show for me. I can accept bad in my characters, but sleazily venal bad or "pity me because I was abused and am now amoral" bad doesn't do it for me.

Behind Firefly, with Wonderfalls and The Inside all bunched up, then Tick. Arrested Development would be next.

Heh. That's *exactly* how I felt about The Inside.
