Art Crawl!!!

Allyson -- that is just so cute. How cool that you were able to get him all giddy and happy like that!

ION, one of my closest friends sent me a package of all sorts of fun foodstuffs that I like but wouldn't normally buy and certainly not when I've been so broke: kalamata olives, and roast red peppers, and rum truffles and an interesting Costa Rican pepper mustard and red current jam and lots of other stuff. It was a GINORMOUS package -- I don't even want to think about how much it cost her to mail it.

Allyson, that's awesome!

I'm safely in NM, below the whackass weather to the north. And going buggy over this keyboard. It needs a tilt. And to be quieter. Anyway.

I got stuck in security behind people who acted as if they had never flown before (and couldn't follow directions) which made it not possible to get something to eat. For the record? Newtons and crackers are really not enough to last until 6 pm. But I survived.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Skipping ahead to say...

Cute news - he is singing a totally butchered version of Bear Necessities on his own after 2 viewings of The Jungle Book. It is THE CUTE.

I guess I'm glad I included Satchmo's version on mac's jazz CD (which I'm giving to your brother tomorrow night BTW).

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Man, Fury's just good people.

Allyson, that's so cool. And sweet. And cool.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I enjoyed the opening credits of The Prisoner a lot more than I enjoyed the rest of it. The opening credits? like Bullitt. The rest of the show? Like your crazy uncle getting himself tangled in a lawn chair and bellowing at your cousins, only in Wales.

Best. Description. Ever.

It's this era which really created Sword and Sorcery genre as we know it. It's the primary influence on REH, and it was also a big part of Leiber's source material for Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser.

Wow, I haven't thought about those guys in a long while!

The argument here is that you can only point to the bad retouching. Every other photo is retouched as well, but you don't notice all of it.

There's retouching and then there is major surgery. I recently had to alter photos for a jean company sales packet. The models had lost wieght or the jeans were too big, so there were huge wrinkles everywhere. They wanted me to "smooth" them out, which basically meant retailoring them.

eta: Allyson, that's so cool about Fury and your Dad's reaction!

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

That's so sweet Allyson.

Hey! we had an awesome garden.

Great gardens, yes. Commercial agriculture, NSM. (Yes, there is a bit, especially in MatSu, but really, not much.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Allyson, that's mega-cute.

Me, I got a gift card! I don't know for how much, but one of the students gave me a gift card. That's so freaking sweet.

I can't believe they let me teach. I can't believe they're letting me lead ten hours worth of classes this week.

Also, fuck, that's a lot of classes. I don't know how people do that regularly. I'm toast, and I have four hours left to go for the week.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I'm watching the Colbert Report that I taped earlier...still up because I needed to take a long winter's nap at 7 pm apparently, but that's irrelevant...anyhoo, Colbert Report is fucking AWESOME tonight. Don't miss it!!

Hey, want a timesuck? Try Google image labeller. It's like a game, with points, for the good of humanity, and you get to yell at idiots.

I mean, that was obviously not the Adams Family [sic], but the Munsters.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

OK, that chart made me feel REAL vanilla.

I got one question. Where does one find women into that whole "able disabled" thing?

oops, outloud typing.
