I'm trying, and failing, to wrap my mind around wht it would be like to have so many huge new experiences, and if you'd really think of them as that.... planes, elevators, escalators, MAGIC PIZZA that arrives AT YOUR DOOR when you just click on the weird flat thing.

Compassionately intolerant

Oooh. Elevators!

I spent some time helping a friend who advocated for Central American refugees around Brownsville TX long ago. Despite passable Spanish, I could not explain why I was asking a woman straight off the bus, to get into a tiny room...and then how the room could magically end up somewhere else. It was a humbling experience to see her non-comprehension. But once I explained how much easier it was than using the stairs (by pointing out the window to indicate how much higher we were, and then showing her the stairwell) she was right on board.

May mac's experiences with new machines be nuthin' but fun.

That's all wonderful, msbelle.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Welcome home, Mac and msbelle. I am so happy to hear that Mac is settling in so well.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

I, for one, welcome our new mac-ish overlords.

(Which is a certain dialect of fannish for, "Welcome to New York, mac. May you and your mum have many, many fine adventures together.")

What a great string of posts to wake up to. Glad you're both home safe and sound, msbelle. And yay for new adventures - for you both!

hip deep in pie

yummy in his tummy.

Oh my god, all these firsts are so exciting. Every hour bringing something new for Mac. US supermarket are exciting for me (all these new brands or brands I have heard of but never seen!) so I can imagine they would be totally overload for mac.

Allyson, your editor sounds wonderful. I'm excited to buy the book.

American Airlines sent me a postcard on Friday to let me know they now have direct service to LaGuardia from Halifax. My reaction was "How did they get my address and how did they know I love NY?"

I have so many questions, but I'll sit on my hands as to not drive msbelle bonkers.

I've achieved target and bloodbath. Unfortunately, I still have done basically NO christmas shopping since Thanksgiving. Did I mention I have to ship just about everything? Yeah. So. I forsee internet shopping in my near future. Where is a good place to get the Miss Naughty/Happy hot and cold packs? (I am also lazy.) thwacks head repeatedly.

Whoa! Just hit some combination of keys that made all my windows shrink and rearrange. What do I do? Yell NO! Yeah, that works.
