Why do people in my family think it's funny to use " X mess" instead of Christmas or XMas?
It's really not, you know.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Survivalist hippies.
I stand corrected.
Heh. We just had an all-staff page thing over the phones, saying that the phone system would be going down for five minutes, at 4 o'clock. The announcement was much longer than that. Then she came back and said disregard the previous message. Um, OK.
I think my favorite message ever was when we got an email about a 24-hour planned downtime of the uninterruptible power source.
Only it came on a DST weekend, so in effect, there was a 23-hour 24-hour interruption of the uninterruptible power source.
An update from home:
Incidentally, Leif is apparently devising his own Contraption challenge. I learned this because he was asking if he'd spelled "place" and "another" correctly. When he asked how to spell "programmable" I went over to see what he was doing. He was writing hints to help his victim create the contraption. What he typed in front of me was, "Place another programmable ball here"
Leif likes to play a computer game called "The Incredible Machine: Contraptions" and apparently has figured out how to create scenarios. And yes, he is still four.
Ugh. Now leaving work has been postponed until 4, because the blizzard "seems to have let up." Uhm. whole point is to not have us driving in the crap weather, not to wait until it's bad and then send us out.
I'm thinking, you might want to keep Leif off the internet. For our safety.

Niiice.
I continue to be mad sleepy. Luckily, I should finish my book tonight, since it's definitely a big reason I haven't been getting enough sleep.
In other news about my job, we have a new employee coming on who has the same first and last name. And it's her married name. Apparently it really meant a lot to her husband that she take his last name. Enough that he saddled her with a RIDICULOUS NAME.
Now I'm guessing names.
Taylor Taylor
Christie Christie
Laurie Laurie
Mmm...the possibilities are endless.
Are they both spelled the same? (Just curious. .. Kelly Kelly; Kelly Kelley; Kellie Kelly - for some reason - that just springs to mind.)
