And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Jessica - here

Ooh, that's kind of nifty. Up til now I've been mostly just wearing my elastic-waistbanded skirts, but it's getting to be too chilly.

This whole thing would be so much easier if I were allowed to work from home in my bathrobe...

Pants are one of the scourges of sin.

Stoopid sin. t kicks sin

It's like a soft stretchy jersey, but nice jersey. comfortable but professional.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

So an example (from the Dembski blog entry) of this unconvinced-by-mountains of data is when he says this?...

I wouldn't say mountains for that-- he's refined his argument to the point where he's harping on systems that we don't know very well. For the Ken Miller article mentioned: [link] It's a good article. Also see: [link] I have to leave work now so I haven't read Dembski's response to this and any counter-response, but he's definitely refusing to be persuaded by counter-examples where a simpler organism is shown to be part of a more complex organism. The responses to TTSS/flagellum, as Jessica and Nutty said, appeared to be "now you have TWO irreducibly complex things" and "that's not close enough to the final form of flagella!" The difficulty appears to be lack of information about the flagellum-- which doesn't prove IC/ID.

Is 'detailed Darwinian pathway,' a Discovery Institute-ism?

Yes; from a quick google it appears to be the thing they will ask for as evidence of evolution but will never receive. The other evidence for evolution-- like replicating it in the lab-- goes unmentioned.

bon bon, would Bob Bob agree with Nutty's assessment of Dembski's rhetorical skills?

Unfortunately I can't ask him b/c he's on a plane right now. I agree with what Nutty says, but I wouldn't want to speak for Bob if only because he has sympathy for Dembski, as Bob gets some shit professionally for being a theist. I think he's been convinced that Dembski has failed to adequately respond to his critics, though.

A tv schedule note for tonight--A Charlie Brown Christmas is on ABC at 8:00 (Eastern) for one full hour (lots of commercials, I'm guessing).

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

A bunch of us put up the office Holiday tree today during lunch and I celebrated by doing the Peppermint Patty dance from that very show for my fellow decorators.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am taping the Charlie Brown to watch when I put up my tree, which will not be in November. I have the Grinch waiting for later, too!

So, my cat puked today, but he seems fine. That's no big deal, right?

Also, I bought a scratch card today that turned out to be $5, WTF, but I won $14! Sweet. I am now probably even on lottery tickets for the past five years.

Now tagless for your comfort.

My favorite undies were (thanks to Cash's suggestion) were Body by Victoria briefs. So soft. And wonderful.

I'm wearing some RIGHT NOW. ATFG!

No big deal. If it keeps up, offer him some vaseline.

Robin is awesome.

When I outgrew (ahem) my hooked-pants, I'd loop a hair elastic through the loop and attach the hook to that.

Four people have remarked on my weight loss in the last couple of weeks. A weight loss which hasn't happened, according to my scale and my clothes. It's disconcerting. I wonder if it is longer hair. And now, I've got a haircut appointment on saturday. Maybe bye bye weight loss?

Mister Kitty is sitting quite royally on a rectangle of crinkly irridescent plastic. He's quite thrilled with it.

Still no sign of the mouse. God, I hope it escaped. Otherwise, it is likely dead IN MY LOVESEAT which is just a bad idea all around.

My mother thinks she has pleurisy. She google-diagnosed. She has a doctors appt right now, thankfully.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

So, my cat puked today, but he seems fine. That's no big deal, right?

Right, unless he keeps puking or won't eat.

I miss Homer.

Like, to eat? Seriously.

Homer misses you too, Lee.
