Not that I've seen Trading Places, but I know Coming to America by heart.

First column is done. In the second column, I'm missing the connection between German and wolf, the poker player to the right of Phil Gordon, and the connections to Mother Teresa and Shaolin.
ETA: Figured out the Shaolin connection to the Japan box.
I went back to the detectives. I am missing the one diagonal to the upper right. I know it will lead to more. Also missing, what connects X-files, Fox Mulder to JFK. I know fox said jfk at 11 months but that doesn't seem to work.
msbelle - do you know the X-Files spinoff ? Or the "nickname" for JFK's solo killer theory .
megan, on your ETA above, what was it? That's the only one I have left open on the priests/friars cube.
THANK YOU! good lord.
And for the connection between German and wolf use the second clue (wolf) and replace it for frank in frankenstein. That's the best way for me to really give a hint for it.
msbelle, the detective to the upper right is a character in a number of books and movies, and has been played by Albert Finney.
Nicole, it's kung-fu. Which was a real "duh" moment for me.
msbelle, for the detectives one, think Agatha Christie. And no, it doesn't lead to others.
Very duh. And thank you! 16 completed cubes. I think I can go to sleep now.
