[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I thought I was bad with my NetFlix queue. Actually, I am, but there's just so much that I want to see! And I don't see most things first time through since I only have enough cable to get networks. Yep, I'm cheap.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Watch out-- I broke my ARM when they tried to teach me!

Amusingly, I almost mentioned that, but then I had to explain Men With Brooms first.

Though removing the breasts seems weird, I totally understand the rest of it. So I was totally with these parents...until they called her their "pillow angel" and I wanted to smack them.

Just the not-yet-expanded buds that form the breast tissue. Nipples, etc, still intact. Though the pillow angel part makes me shudder, it also seems pretty typical language choice for parents of severely disabled children, at least the ones with blogs.

Given how often you hear reports about the sexual victimization of the severely disabled, I think they made as good a choice as they could, but what a choice to have to make.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

It's the tv that really bumps up the queue.

That and not watching stuff for stretches, and then adding a bunch of stuff that you missed because you weren't going to the theater, either.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, that pillow angel thing creeped me out at first, but then I started thinking about the fucked-up mental gymnastics people in a situation like that must have to do to cope with it all - eh, I can see it.

Yeah, the tv gets me too. I really should upgrade to 3 at a time.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

This. Very this. She would neither be able to defend herself from unwanted sexual attentions nor be able to report them. That makes her a prime candidate for victimization. Keeping her smaller and more childlike will also benefit her, come the time the parents are no longer able to care for her at home, because if she is lucky some of her paid caregivers will think of her as a baby, bond with her on that basis, and consequently become more protective. Her projected full adult size is 5'6" - at a reasonably healthy weight of anywhere between 120 and 150lbs, she would be designated as a "two-person lift" - which means that if she needed to be moved and only one of her parents was available, if she fell or got dropped and an injury resulted, her parents could conceivably be charged with neglect. Keeping her a "one-person lift" is going to benefit her as well as her caregivers.

I skipped. 599 posts. I'm sad. I hate skipping. But, there was NO way I was gonna get caught up.

Everyone ok?

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I think in general, everyone is ok. Certin people need to not hurt their finger. For my exciting news I cleaned the office and shredded papers 'til I had a ( very mild) asthma attack ( dust, who knew) and then I read for the rest of the day.

ETA: other news

Steph has an infection in an unfun place - but the Boy was very sympathetic.

David and JZ have not killed anyone over the baptism, yet

A homeless man though JZ was homeless. ( foolishman, but we figure he was just dazzled by her beauty and couldn't see straight)

We read many nice things about DJ's granfather

Em used the potty on her own

and Pete is still adorable

Uh oh! Who hurt their finger now? Do we need to invest in more bubble wrap?

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

DJ slamed her finger in the door and SuziQ burnned hers. but the last one was more of a ploy to get out of typing her paper.

And are you home now? or still at the folks?
