Spike's Bitches 33: Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I like those.
Hmm.
Mariah Carey co-worker has agreed to Bollywood today.
Matilda's up and crying.
Remember that whole bit about her being a mellow baby?
Not anymore. Non-stop fussing alternating with full out crying. When she's asleep and for fifteen minutes after she's fed, she's mellow.
Dang. I was hoping for some baby smiles by now instead of the incessant airing of infant grievances.
This too shall pass.
Also, our car is malfunctioning. Started overheating on the way over yesterday. Spent the day in the East Bay, hanging with EM and doing our Parent-Teacher Conference for Emmett. (His least good one! Even though he did have the highest reading scores in the class on the state testing. He's just being lazy and (a) not participating in class; (b) not working on his papers until the last minute and (c) not studying before tests. He's doing all his workbooks and homework and he's testing high. He's just coasting.)
Drove home and the needle's in the red before I get to the toll plaza. Make it through the metering lights and pull over to cool off. Ten minutes later brave the bridge, but only half of it, stopping on Treasure Island to cool off again. Very pretty view of the city at sunset from there. Emmett's enjoying the adventure anyway.
Do the Western span and pull over again as soon as we get off the bridge. Park car and go to downtown SF McDonald's to get Emmett something to eat. Drive halfway home and stop to get gas and rest the car again. Guy next to me at the pump alerts me that smoke is coming out of my engine. Yeah, thanks, got that. Limp home and can't find parking because of the freakin' football game across the street.
I'm trading JZ her cold calls for her car repair. She can take it to the dealer today or tomorrow.
Hec, once the car cools down, check to make sure there's enough anti-freeze. If that's OK, it's probaby either the cooling fan motor or the thermostat. Thermostats are pretty cheap to replace. (Actually, you can open the hood while the car is hot and running - the cooling fan should be running. If not, it's the problem.)

Thanks, Tommy. I checked the coolant and it did have some when it first got hot. In fact, the coolant was boiling. Obviously not a good sign. Then I opened it and the coolant boiled out. So it does need some coolant to get to the dealer, but I don't htink that's the primary cause. Good to know that the thermostat is a cheap and easy fix option.
You generally shouldn't open the radiator when the car is hot (there's a risk of you getting burned).
If the car is low on coolant, you should check for leaks. If the car all of a sudden started overheating badly and if it's low on coolant, odds are there's a significant leak.
