[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I wanna see them attaching wheels to the 6" platform boots.

I wanna see them attach tiny little wheels to Erika's great big wheels.

I can't say I'm thrilled with the idea of Jilli skating because she bruises very very easily.

I stopped being a fan of Docs because the two pairs I had lasted under 2 years apiece, while the New Rocks I got lasted 6.

Our wings are not tired.

Haven't really rollerskated. Never ice skated at a real rink. We ice skated in the road, in back yards, and on the lake. When we were young our parents would hose down the yard or lake to smooth the ice. Nice memories, including the falling on my butt part.

Well done on the present exchanges, Kristin and ND.

I know, I know. But, skates! And gothy music! And the whoosh whoosh, and the stuff!

Surely there's room for lots of padding amid all the petticoats.

Airbags!

edit: am now outrageously amused at the idea of someone on wheels having an airbag go off against a wall and how the Laws of Motion would then kick in.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Pete--I bruise very easily and have gotten some doozies since I began skating, but, you know, bruises heal. Plus being able to glide around is so damn wonderful.

I think part of Pete's worry is the memory of someone we knew who also wore long flowy skirts who decided to teach herself how to rollerblade. On concrete. After it had been raining. At twilight.

She has metal plates in her arm now, go figure.

Can you stick magnets to her?

No. But I did try!
