Sweet lumpy minion, you're the only one that understands. Probably 'cause I haven't sucked the brain out of you yet.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I learned to iceskate on the pond next door. Actually - on the tiny piece of ice in our drieway first - then to the pond. ( my sister started on double blades - I started on a single) I remember really really bright blue days - people from all over the neighborhood were on the pond . The hockey players were not allowed to crowd out the rest of us. Lots of crack the whip . One corner of the pond was unfrozen and my dog, Honey, astounded people by her willingness to swim underwater to fetch rocks.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Our skating music was The Jackson Five and The Osmonds. Not that I necessarily liked it (I did, it was the early 70s, what can I say), but they had upbeat songs that provided a good rhythm to skate to. Just about any pop music of the early 70s was good that way. Still, whole lotta shakin' going on to "Rockin' Robin" let me tell you.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I keep threatening to take M ice-skating at the Embarcadero rink before they take it down. He was surprised that I know how to skate, until I reminded him that I am More Northerly Than Him.

Rollerskating was a HUGE part of my pre-teen life. We'd (my parents, my parents' friends, and the assorted kids) drive out to Polar Rink in North Pole, bring a lunch, and skate all day. And in elementary school, we'd have ice-skating during recess (when it was warm enough to let us out).

Why are Docs so spendy?

Because they last for years and years and are hella comfy (if you have the right foot shape). They are worth the investment, IMB(oots)O.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

::tries to wrap poor global-warming-ized brain around "warm enough to skate"::
