[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Roller skating screwed up my knees. I've never ice skated. The old four-wheeler skates may have been too heavy for my feet (see above re: knees), but at least you could stand on them, which is more than I ever thought about narrow pieces of metal.

Art Crawl!!!

Skating is something that I have only tried a couple of times and I really want to skate but my ankles are weak.

Hmmm, originally I was told that they weren't taking the radiators but guess what? They are taking the radiators and right now? Leaving holes in my floors.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Who knew so many of you took roller skating lessons? Is this a midwestern thing?

What's your favorite skating music?

Thrive to spite them

I've never been ice skating. When we had a minor league hockey team here there was ice skating, just around Christmas. currently they have a tiny little ice skating area downtown but I don't think I'll try my hand.

And I wasn't much of a roller skater. I went on Friday nights (I think) because that's what everyone did. We'd skate to the songs and do the hokey pokey and some other things and drink "suicides" (which erika mentioned earlier -- you mix up two or more fountain drinks and try to make the most disgusting combinations and still drink them). I never learned how to skate backwards or do any tricks or anything. Just went round and round.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Mine is roller skating.

It was the 4th-6th grade roller skating party. My very first one. It was the "last skate" which is always a slow song, and I had no one to skate with. Mr. Ladany, one of THE best teachers ever in this world to have lived and taught, knew my uncles and my mom and saw I was alone and kind of mopey. He called over one of his students, a 6th grader, and asked him to skate with me. He smiled at me, said, "C'mon, Aimee. Let's shake it." He held my hand the ENTIRE time we skated and then pecked me on the cheek at the end.

I had a crush on him for YEARS after that. Still kinda do.

JZ says that Jane's Addiction's "Been Caught Stealing" is just about ideal for ice skating.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I had teenage sisters so my roller skating music of choice is usually something disco related. I learned to ice skate when I was 10 and I got into hockey when I was in college so my favorite ice skating music is usually hard rock/emo stuff they play at hockey games. Best ice skating moment of mine was when we took a friend skating and she made the mistake of asking what a check was. I showed her in a very gentle, but physical way and we both ended up on the ice laughing our asses off.

I know I've been ice skating at the Galleria when I was little, but I don't remember it. We used to roller skate nearly every weekend in elementary and middle school. The music was mostly hair bands. I'm sure there was Poison, Def Leppard, Guns 'n' Roses- that kind of stuff.

Ohh. I do remember that a boy who was a couple of years older, Shelby Smith I think, bit a hole in his tounge when he skated into a bench.
