I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you guys, Connie.
Spike's Bitches 33: Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
How? Why? How?
Three excellent questions.
Has anyone here ever gone through the process for disability approval? We've been futzing with this for near on 2 years, and we're on our first appeal.
Yesterday we got something that I think is hopeful, a notice of an appointment for Hubby to see a doctor to be evaluated. Granted, the doctor could say, "It's in your head, you could go be a construction worker, get outta here, ya mooch," but being given the appointment does say they think we've got a case, right?
I can't imagine how they could deny your husband for disability, but if they do after seeing this doctor you might want to see if there is a lawyer who can advocate for him in your area. I was about to be denied until I ended up in the hospital.
Connie, I'll just echo what others have said -- the fact that they want him to see a doctor is a good sign.
When they granted it we got a big fat check because it was retroactive to the time of his diagnosis. That was a wonderful surprise.
That happened with my dad, too. (He's on SSI for degenerative disc issues and other nerve-related issues, not for his heart issues.)
Oh, my goodness! I think I'm done with the bark!!!! Well, I have to do one little batch for my SIL that's just white chocolate. And then I have two batches to do for New Year's when I get home. BUT, for now, I AM DONE!!!!!!!!!
Now to mop that floor.
Yay, vw!
Sail, does that age at which sexual maturation occurs come into play, at all?
I honestly don't remember if that was something we talked about or not. Probably not, or I'd at least remember talking about it. I don't think it has much effect from what I know, though. I mean, a giant sea tortoise doesn't come into sexual maturity until their 50s. They do, however, live well into the 200 year range. IIRC, chimpanzees mature around 10-13 years of age, but they only live to 40-45 tops. Mating strategies of those animals are near polar opposites because of foraging and sperm/egg cost. Humans are very similar, we're just fortunate we have modern medicine to extend our lives. Early homo sapiens very rarely made it past 40.
connie, good-outcome~ma with the SSDI request.

Raq--for folks without a lot of empathic skills, it's sometimes good to work on behavioral cues rather than emotional ones. So he doesn't need to work on being "less judgmental," (which is very difficult to gauge) and instead could work on a specific skill--responding with a positive comment and nothing else whenever anyone makes a suggestion, for example. I had a seminar with managers here and pointed out that it is difficult to make suggestions or share ideas, so EVEN IF YOU ALREADY KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE THAT THE IDEA IS IMPRACTICAL, thank the person and tell them you will look into it. This was a foreign concept to some of them and made them come across as judgmental and inflexible.
