Erin,
I wasn't arrested but I did get in trouble for not paying tickets -- for not having insurance, reckless driving,--then I got tickets on top of that. But it was a big deal and I did have to get a lawyer, luckily there was a friend of the family. If you can't afford a lawyer, then you'll get someone court appointed but if you can find a lawyer do that.
I had to do community service and pay fines. I had to borrow money in order to pay the fines and the community service wasn't too bad. I know someone else who was arrested when he was pulled over an expired tag, he had some outstanding tickets. I'm pretty sure that he had fines and community service. Luckily for him it didn't effect his job.
IallaboutMN, I am trying to drive myself crazy. First I bought new candle holder for the votives and tealights I know I have , but haven't used in this house. I have no idea where the candles are. that alone is a enough to drive me batshit. So I decide to ignore this- and make shortbreads. I went to find the reciepe cards I have - and saw about a month ago - and once again I have no idea where I put them.
on the plus side I found two shirts I bought for DH ages ago and I cleaned the top of the refrigerator. I think I am going to clean out the my tea supplies while I wait for the butter to warm up...
Erin, I hope you can comfort yourself in that as horrible, shitty things go, this ones not too bad. There will likely be a while when things are difficult, with legal stuff and fines and maybe community service, but I imagine that it will feel so good when it's all over and you don't have this hanging over you anymore. Plus, I just want to echo the get a lawyer advice.
It seems to me, from experience with people in general, not specifically with lawyers, if you seem to be a pretty good person (which you do) and it's not that serious (which it's not, since no one was hurt) and you have a lawyer (so that it's not easy-peasy to walk all over you), the prosecutors just don't seem to push that hard because it's not worth the effort. Plus, I think that in situations like these, most of the people involved are just repeating over and over, "There but for the grace of God (or whatever their personal beliefs) go I."

KristinT- And what are you still doing up at 5AM? Insomnia?
Ya totally. Very unmotivated this weekend. One could say "blah". Not a damn thing done. And absolutely no desire to go shopping for the holidays. No desire to be in jampacked stores. No desire to be on yucky wet roads (raining yesterday). Today, I'm finding ANY excuse to not do anything. examples:
"wait wait" on the radio
"marketplace" on the radio
Eagles football on TV
dunno what I'll do in about 20 minutes when the game is done. However, I did dig out the visa, so I think I'll click my way to holdiay shopping, and pay thru the nose in shipping.
Ho Hum.
Erin, I'm glad you weren't badly hurt. It will all be all right eventually. And, now you have the prettiest mugshot ever taken.
Last August I got pulled over for turning right on red when I shouldn't have, and I couldn't find my insurance card, and it turned out my registration had been expired for a YEAR and my driver's license had expired three days previous. I almost collapsed. They towed my car, and thank goodness I had no outstanding tickets. I still can't believe I was that careless. But it happens - one minute everything's normal, the next minute, OMGWTF did I do?
I will not murder anyone in my house.
I will not murder anyone in my house.
I will not murder anyone in my house.
Suppose you drag them into the yard first, Suzi?
Yes, sj, yes.
I feel like a need a wheel of fortune to pick the victim as it changes from moment to moment.
I hate feeling snarly.
