Hey. New board.

Suzi's non-raise-giver is an ass. I declare it.

Bah. It's 10:00. I have no idea what to teach tomorrow. I mean, I could easily plan a basic math lesson of the normal sort, but I feel like I need to do something extra-fun tomorrow, because students are going to be keyed up for our talent show tomorrow night. I don't know what to do, though - I'm bad at fun stuff, still.

Anybody have any good ideas for a math game that will help kids reduce fractions and doesn't require TOO much preparation? Hmm. Maybe I'll have the students make cards for an Equivalent Fractions memory game. Then they can play the game on Friday! Interesting.

Oooh! Just got an email from my math mentor. Maybe it will help me. Okay, sorry about all that.

...So, because I really haven't found anywhere else to squee yet, I'll just say that I went to the Apple Store in SoHo today to see a special "Spring Awakening" event, where the writer, the guy who made the music (Duncan Sheikh - anybody a fan?), and several producers talked about the creation of the show. Cast members were there, too, and sang some songs, but they had to rush out early, since there's a performance tonight. It was pretty awesome. I had a good conversation with a couple of the producers - they took my email to discuss marketing ideas. How cool is that?

I found the vaginal ultrasound far less uncomfortable than a regular pelvic exam, FWIW.

Fourthing or fifthing this, askye.

Sorry for the crap call re: raise, SuziQ.

There was more, but I got distracted by visions of peppermint bark and kick-ass sounding fruit cake (and I don't particularly even like fruit cake - but Anne's sounds yum.).

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

There's a fractions version of the game Twenty-Four. You could pretty easily put together some cards for something like that, too.

Yeah, I thought about that. Love that game. I think I'm gonna go with the memory thing for now (easier to set up at 10:35 at night), but fraction 24 may get added next week. I'll probably just buy a couple of sets - much easier, and no accidental creation of impossible cards. Plus, nice difficulty rating given right on the card. Thanks!

I have a date on Friday!

I probably could've had a date on Thursday, but much as I'm pro having kissing sooner, I figure I need the time to clean my house and do laundry so I have clothes to wear on said date. And dates are more fun when they're not on schoolnights...:)

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Fruitcakes all spoken for.

Congratulations on the date, meara!

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Teppy, does your bro know this dude?

I just e-mailed him to ask. I wouldn't be surprised, with VT being so damned small, and the brewers' world being even smaller.

I'm a MUCH happier person now. For a while at the end, I thought I would need to go on anti-depressants. Turned out it was pretty much just him.

Heh. So, basically, *he* was the anti-antidepressant? (Or, um, the depressant?)

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

AGHHHH!!!!!

I missed Anne's fruitcake.

I had it last year. It was transcendent.
