Kristin, did they specify the metal? I have a night guard (and I wear it all the time) (honest), for the same reason, and it's just an in mouth plastic thing.
'Get It Done'
Spike's Bitches 33: Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Eesh, Kristin. No fun. Is a night guard (you know, a plastic thing that goes in your mouth, sort of like boxers wear, I think) not an option? I wore on of those for a while, and it wasn't too bad.
Also, is the legendary punch recipe super secret? I admit, I'm kind of dying of curiosity.
ETA: Mouth guard x-post, huh? Not my most exciting ever.
Yuck mouth guards but I think not grinding your teeth could lead to more better sleep than the oddness of wearing it takes away.
I had my purse stolen in high school and I can still recall some of the personal items that were lost forever. Sometimes, the thoughts will just pop up and I still get pissed about it. That kind of violation lingers for a long time.I felt like that each time my car was stolen. I had a binder of journals in the trunk of one and I still think of it to this day. Last night even. I can't get those things back...
If the punch recipe isn't secret it should be. It should be locked in a vault nobody knows the combination to.
See, that just makes me want it more.
The punch recipe is...shall we say...flexible. It requires ND oversight, I believe.

Lee, she told me about the mouth thing, but she said it wasn't as comfortable as the metal one. I've always hated having something stuck in my mouth (no snide comments from the peanut gallery, the rest of you!), so I figured the other would be better. Am I wrong? Is it not as bad as those awful sport guard things I used to have to wear for field hockey? It would actually be great if it's better since it's about $200 less than the other one.
I used to have to wear a mouth guard, for teeth-grinding and TMJ, and it was kind of like the field hockey things, but custom-made so it fit a lot better and wasn't as irritating. It's just on top of the back teeth and around the inside of all the bottom teeth -- nothing on the top teeth, and nothing between your teeth and your cheeks.
Oh really?? That sounds much better than I was thinking.
Mine is only on the top teeth, and it took a little getting used to (expect to look for it places other than your mouth for a few mornings), but once you do, it's not bad at all
What was primarily bothersome about the orthodontics related head-gear, as I recall, was the strain it put on your teeth. Since you're not actuallly trying to move those around, I'd think that wouldn't be an issue here.
Might be most comparable to sleep masks, actually - I first started using those when my schedule was all kinds of fucked up and I had to be able to sleep properly in the daytime. It felt weird as all hell at first, bt you get used to it.
Might be knd of silly looking. Drew et al can deal.
