Spike's Bitches 33: Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Beverly, hey! I ran away after I posted. I am... freezing cold right now, so I'm going to build a fire. Well. Throw on a fire log. I don't have any real wood since last week's fires. More's the pity.
Generally, feeling good and getting ready for the holidays. I think I may drag the tree up tonight. Or maybe tomorrow. I'd like to be staring at it right now, all decorated, but all the steps in between here and there seem
hard
at the moment.
How
you
doin'?
Oh, ugh, Daniel and Andi. That's a lot of no fun, with a side of PITA.
Three dresses listed so far; unfortunately, I have no dress form and no decent pictures of myself wearing any of them, but hopefully the listings don't completely suck.
Dress #1
Dress #2
Dress #3
Two more to go, but one needs ironing and the other looks great on a human body but like ass on the hanger, so I have to take that one to my one friend who owns a dress form and beg for a few minutes of its time.
Dan, Andi I'm so glad y'all are okay.
I grew up with the white bread suburdan notion of pigs in a blanket, which is little weenies in pastry dough or roll-up Pillsbury croissants.
More notable, however, is the description of Toad in the Hole that Roald Dahl gives in
Danny the Champion of the World
which makes my mouth water terribly. I want some Toad in the Hole!
I want some Toad in the Hole!
That sounds dirty....
I think pigs in blankets used to mean little hot dogs in little crescent wraps to me. Then I think IHOP morphed that into pancakes with sausages rolled in them. I prefer the wrapped little dogs.
Toad in the Hole - same as egg in a basket?
And I should have said - glad you (eventually) made it home safe and sound, Daniel and Andi.
Only if you do it right.
Sorry. Bette Midler moment...couldn't let it pass. Toad in the Hole is really eggs and toast, yeah?
To me, Pigs in a Blanket is mini hot dogs wrapped in dough or crescent rolls. Cocktail hour staple at pretty much ever bar/bat mitzvah I went to in the eighties and nineties. (Still called Pigs in a Blanket even though they were made with no actual pigs.)
The pancake and sausage thing looks weird to me. Strange sort of sweet/savory mix.
mmm... food. Matt is making crabcakes...mmm.
and I am eating my favorite 'healthy cheese snack' chedder cheese ruffles.
I'm sorry the Blue dress doesn't fit you anymore JZ.
glad daniel and windsparrow got home, and so sorry today was an ordeal.
pigs in a blanket was hotdog wrapped in something like bisquick dough. The important part was enought dought to the hot dog. ( it was rarely as much dought as I wanted) it was not my favorite meal. Pancakes wrapped around sausage , dipped in real maple syrup, that's food I can get behind.
Is this the mouth-watering Toad in the Hole?
Cause we just do the egg in toast and call it the same thing.
We do weenies in the rolled dough for pigs in a blanket. Can't see how you get the pancakes to stay rolled around the sausages, but that sound pretty good to me
Now I'm hungry for breakfast.
I got my injection today (with a great help from a friend who works with DH and our old babysitter). I'm still sore, though. Not sure if the leg pain is going away entirely. Hopefully, after a good night's rest, I'll be pain free in the morning. The kids will be awake between 6:30 and 7 a.m. so I'm going to need to get some damned sleep or I'll never make it through tomorrow.
