Spike's Bitches 33: Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I think my dad has only ever ownded Ford products. For some reason I also have that loyalty to Ford.

I've decided that my car-buying decisions are pretty much irrational....

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

oh, cars.

My first car was a 1993 Geo Prizm, a college graduation present from my parents. His name was Charlie. Now drive a 2003 Saab 9-3, who is named Zoe.

brillig

Worst car: used Ford Escort. The gear shift snapped off on the freeway. Luckily Hubby has strong fingers.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Um. I forgot to say that all but the Green Hornet were bought used. Gently or roughly used, but used. We go looking at new cars occasionally, but our hearts can't take the sticker shock. Not when there's this lovely little thing over here on the DependableUsed lot....

Like the Aurora he was in love with, was a fantastic price, and I really should have said okay to. Except if I'd ever had to drive it I'd have lost all sense of the road. It took a lot of pain for me to give up standard shift, and I still hate automatic drive. I rarely use cruise control, I don't want to drive by making emphatic gestures, I want control. To me, drive is an active verb, and moving a soundproof, cushioned, futuristic (as opposed to NASAistic) spaceship-like bubble by the power of mind isn't driving. So he got the Pontiac instead and is only occasionally wistful for the Aurora.

Oh gawd. My parents had an '84 Escort that I drove for a while in college. It would overheat on the highway, so you'd have to turn the heater on to help cool the engine. Once I was climbing a hill on the highway and the car was slowing down, so I floored it. It (eta: the automatic transmission) downshifted with such violence I felt like we'd run over a cinderblock. And even downshifted, it still did not have enough power to make it up the hill without slowing down more, pissing off those behind us (this was with four people in the car).

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Holy shit. Our CEO just gave all of us iPod shuffles! I finally have an mp3 player that works! Without the ability to control exactly what I listen to, but STILL. I guess I finally have to install iTunes.

ALSO. I got a random financial award for my recent hard work or whatever. Damn, now I better actually work hard so I feel like I deserve it, shiiiiit.

Now I can totally afford that flat-screen TV and entertainment center my mom wants me to buy her.

Wow, congrats, P-C!

A very pretty, very lovely (as is her driver), very well-driven Zoe she is, too.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

Hola Bitches.

Cindy, from waaaaaaaay back on Saturday (I've been away from the computer ever since), my mom is doing just fine. Her thyroid surgery is scheduled for January, after the holidays and multiple trips she has planned, one of which puts her her in LA to visit with S and I for several days. She lands Tuesday night and we see her Wednesday morning.

Also, I'm certain I know Omnis Audis, probably from working with him/her/it, but that doesn't narrow it down enough. I know too many other sound people through ND.
