Mal: How come you didn't turn on me, Jayne? Jayne: Money wasn't good enough. Mal: What happens when it is? Jayne: Well... that'll be an interesting day.

Spike's Bitches 33: Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yes. Exactly.

Huh. I didn't know you went to a religious high school? What was it like?

I went to a Lutheran grade school. It was pretty conservative, but not fundamentalist.

Um. Want the novel or the short story?

It was fine. I didn't know anything different. I went to fundamentalist Baptist school from pre-school to graduation. Looking back I go, "Huh. Interesting. That screwed me up."

Things were actually a little more difficult for me, because my mom taught at my high school, and was not a well-liked teacher until my class was seniors. So, that made life a bit more interesting than I would have liked.

It was small. My graduating class was 13 people. So, friendships were forced and cliquish. Other than that, it was school. Oh, I missed the day we talked about sex ed. Notice, it was a day. Mostly, though, it was just school.

I was lucky, because I got to take orchestra and IB English at the local public school. So, I had a few more opportunities than a lot of other people in that environment.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

When did Nick get to be 21? 21? That's just not right.

LJ lists tons of people from my high school, but I'm not surprised. It's a big school.

I've spent the morning catching up on episodes of Ugly Betty. That's a cute show. Not even close to groundbreaking teevee, but I dig it.

Because books.

Stephen's doing all right, Laura. Thanks for asking. He's taking out his frustration with baking, which suits me fine. He's attempting homemade brioche later.

I may have to look up my high school on LJ. Hmmm.

Crap - I'd have more to say, but I gotta finish some some work for a guy I'm doing some consulting for....

Our wings are not tired.

I don't know if I would like having my parent teaching at my school. The kids I know in that situation don't seem to mind.

I went to Catholic school until part way through Freshman year in HS. I enjoyed it well enough and would have stayed if the bus wasn't so early in the morning. The public HS was only a few blocks away. You might say I had many more opportunities to misbehave at the public HS, or who knows I probably would have been as difficult a teen had I stayed in Catholic school, except they would have tossed me out. Which is pretty much what the public HS did.

The person I was in my teens, not the same person in my 20's, not the same person of my 30's. I think I became this person in my mid-30's. Waiting for the mid-life crisis person to pop out any moment now.

Mmmm. This would not be good for my diet. But not the worst way to take out frustration.

I didn't mind. It was just difficult sometimes.

Good luck!

Because books.

Thirteen people. Wow, vw. That had to be a very different vibe.

Seems like all of the people listed under my high school were born after I graduated. I feel old. Although I suppose I could feel hip and worldy instead, and thumb my nose at my graduating class, who clearly missed the bus for the Internets.

It really was. For quite a while, after I left, I didn't want anything to do with them. I hadn't gotten the choice of who I was friends with for so long, that I really craved choosing who I was gonna spend time with. But, now, I've grown a bit, and we stay in touch a little. I send them all my Christmas card/letter, and we exchange e-mails with pictures of kids and big news and whatnot. It's been nice to find a balance with it.
