GC! My fellow insomniac! I took a Claritan D earlier for allergies and then, without thinking, made the mistake of taking two Advil Cold & Sinus pills for a nasty headache a few hours later. On the upside--no headache anymore. Downside? I'm practically shaking from the amount of pseudoephedrine running through my veins. It's the only thing that works for my congestion and headaches, so I love it...but too much is a very bad thing. I hate this speed feeling.
Anyone up?
I'm a little insomniac right now. Hoping to get past it soon though.
If you wouldn't mind chatting for a bit, I'm on yahoo. I promise not to keep you up too long.
So, my probably-a-con-lady person, to whom I handed a wad of cash the other day?
I just checked her email address that I scribbled down (in the faint and forlorn hope that she was, in fact, kosher).
Her name?
Amanda Conradie.
A. Conradie. Which, if you have a Thai accent, is how you'd pronounce "A con lady."
!!!!
I laughed
out loud
when I saw that. That's a really nice touch. Fair play. The clue's in the name.
...otoh, though, a half-hearted Google of that name brought a bunch of links to South African wineries. And she claimed to be South African, working in the Wine Industry. So it
is
within the bounds of possibility that she was for real. I guess.
But mostly I'm thinking she's a 40ish fat female Sawyer-from-LOST. Probably. Who will end up being a character in my book, because she's clearly leading a Very Interesting Life.
Who will end up being a character in my book, because she's clearly leading a Very Interesting Life.
Which makes it a very good investment no matter.
Or she could just have a great name so that karmically you were rewarded with ideas for your good deed *and* she could pay you back as well.
Still? You did something for the right reason and that makes you a Good Person. No matter.
Kristin, thanks for chattering with me tonight. Am in bed now. Going to snooze.

Oh, as usual, dear.
Fay, I thought about you yesterday, in church (is that the first time a Buffista ever posted that particular combination of letters and spaces in your direction?).
The sermon was all about giving. The call to worship was taken from Acts 20:35, and reads, "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'
The Old Testament reading was from Deuteronomy 15:7-11 (which is a shorter passage than we usually have) and reads:
If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs. Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought: "The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near," so that you do not show ill will toward your needy brother and give him nothing. He may then appeal to the LORD against you, and you will be found guilty of sin. Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.
When I was listening, I kept thinking, "I must tell Fay the Bible supports her in e-mail." I don't want to overdo it, so I'll just link to the N.T. passage, II Corinthians 8:1-9
[link] because it too made me think of you, and your generosity. So get down with your kind self, because if her story was true, she was in terrible straits. Since she seemed believable, and you could spare the help, I can't imagine you choosing any other way, and still being Fay.
Steph, insent.
Timelies, all! How did it get to be Monday already? Yay for short week, though!
vw, are you doing Thanksgiving at your new place, or at your mom's?
At my mom's. Theodosia's coming too! YAY!
edit: I'm pretending I'm getting away for the weekend. Taking lots of crafts to do. It will be mucho fun.
