Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig, dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage, and hootenanny, well, it's chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

Speaking of baby showers, I got an invitation to a baby shower for a coworker. I worked with the woman for maybe two months before she left on maternity leave. She has already HAD the baby. Plus, the shower invite/email actually said "Don't forget your gift". Ugh. I'm thinking of claiming that I will be out of town.

Because books.

if anyone would think it was weird to have an adoption baby shower for a guy.

Stephen's coworkers had a baby shower for him when I was pregnant. It's a lot more common these days than you'd think. And I know while we didn't have a shower for a guy I used to work with, we all chipped in to get him and his wife something for their first baby.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Joe's co-workers gave him a shower when I was pregnant. We got a $200 gift card to Babies R Us. It kicked ass.

Vortex, that's ridonculous.

I know! It's so tacky that I can't stand it! I mean, I like the woman, but jeez! Actually, she wasn't the one who sent out the email, someone else was, but STILL.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

"Oh! I'm so sorry I won't be able to make it!" is a good all-occasion response. Goes over better than "are you freaking kidding me?" anyway.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Mmm... I splurged on lunch and am having a lump crab cake with a green salad with vinaigrette dressing from Daily Grill. YUM!

What is even happening?

Plus, the shower invite/email actually said "Don't forget your gift".

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, she wasn't the one who sent out the email, someone else was, but STILL.

And she'd probably die if she saw that, because ugh.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

But the second is so much more satisfying!!!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hec, I hope Crazy!Ex calms down and backs off, pronto.

I have to terminate someone today and I am not looking forward to the prospect. She is being let go due to, um Personality Issues, and those same issues are going to lead to a messy, uncomfortable meeting. I got her a week's severence, even though we don't usually do that, but many of us in the office are worried that she is going to deal with this by behaving just like EM's ex, especially to her supervisor and myself. I feel very bad for her, and I know she is going to feel victimized, even though we have had literally hours of meetings on how to work with her and deal with her over the last few months. Feh.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh Robin, I'm sorry. That's the ugly side of management I guess?
