Yeah, the cigarette butt in the drink is one of the grosser things that exist in my real-life Universe (as opposed to things that I don't come into actual contact with).
My "grown up" moments included "Wow, I have a pension plan. And insurance (through work, for health. On my own for car.). I could have a more substantial retirement plan, but, well, credit card debt." more than my own place. I did buy a nice chair-and-a-half, but furniture didn't do it for me. I think the having my own income, and paying things off using only that income is a big thing.
Grown up moment? Realizing I'm supporting not just me, DH, and the kids, but my mom too. No - that was more of a gut punch.
Grown up moment? The first health crisis that I had to cope with without my parents' help. Oddly enough, it was my crisis, not Hubby's.
The first time I felt like it was fun to be a grownup was going to a sit-down restaurant all by myself and feeling confident about asking for exactly what I wanted from the waitress.

I think being grown-up for me was declaring bankruptcy. A house and a kid didn't do it for me. Having creditors calling me at work? Woke me the fuck up.
Feeling like I had to be the grownup? The first time I had to clean up after I'd been sick. The first time my new husband got sick and was depending on me to know what to do. When the hospital actually sent StE home with me. No more bullshit, I'm the mommy, I'm the grownup.

I was never a huge smoker, but one of my friends smoked this brand that tasted vaguely of lemon. I loved the first hit off of those, but by the 3rd or 4th cigarette I couldn't taste it anymore. If there was a way to keep that first hit flavor, I'd still be a smoker today. I think they were called Eves. Does that sound right?
