Doesn't matter that we took him off that boat, Shepherd, it's the place he's going to live from now on.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Do I look like a gambling girl?

I know for a fact that she will make cookies in exchange for support. Yummy yummy cookies.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Blech. I think I'm getting sick. My skin's got that sandpapered feeling and my stomach's been churning and I've got a slight fever of 99.3.

I am isolating myself from mother and child.

I never had nuclear nightmares. I read a lot of post-apocalyptic fiction growing up and the world always looked more interesting after the bombs, what with the telepathic animals and whatnot.

Reagan didn't come into power until I was in college and somewhat immune to his fear-mongering.

Maybe some soup. I wish had some french onion. Probably have to settle for ramen or chicken noodle.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Strangely, both the bread discussion and the nuclear discussion are taking me back to my childhood.

I was born in the "Atomic City", Oak Ridge, TN in '55. Duck and cover was a real thing in my youth.

My mother was a sporatic cook. But she got on a bread kick for awhile. Dinner was often just bread fresh from the oven with melty butter.

I'd be down with that. The wife of my high school English teacher / mentor also grew up in Oak Ridge, but she was in high school during the late fifties. The stories were interesting - it was such an odd and distinctive environment.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I already had sushi, and didn't have to do any dishes.

I get to go to Denver tomorrow, which will be very cool, but I am also sad because I've had such a great time this week and now I have to leave.

Oooo Denver. . . There's a great sushi place in the Highlands area. Arghhh! For the life of me I can't remember its name. Best sushi I've ever had was from there.

Hmm. I'll have to ask Nicole about that.

Re: Oak Ridge: We left when I was pretty young, but I remember exploring in the woods around our neighborhood and finding tall chainlink fences topped with barbed wire just appearing in the middle of nowhere. I also remember that commercial airplanes were not allowed to fly over and were "escorted" away if they strayed.

It's near 32nd and Lowell just around the corner from Chipotle and across from a little deli called Heidi's.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Nukes freaked me out as a child but I can't remember any nuke nightmares then. My older brother did tell me stuff about how our military was the strongest in the world, so that make me feel safe until I got to Jr. high age.

Oddly enough, I did have a nuke nightmare around the time of the first Gulf war - I dreamt I was in Iraq when a nuke went off - it wasn't close enough to hurt me, except I was pretty sure I got a near-lethal dose of radiation. Oh, and for some reason I had to wade through a radioactive river. I remember thinking that I had a few hours to live.
