OMG, my grandfather was totally addicted to his ham radio. He kept it in another room, where my grandmother didn't go, and often used code to talk on it! To STRANGERS! Who he sometimes MET IN PERSON.
My dad does this, too. And he's even perverted converted both my brothers. I've got my license, too. KC9BFO.
My nana was totally addicted to both police scanners and CBs.
I always meant to, really. My granddad (before he moved to CA) was WB3IQL.
Mine's only a Technician Class. Means I don't have to know morse code. One of these years, I may actually spend enough time to get proficient and upgrade my license. Still, I've never had a radio and probably never will. I got my license to make my dad happy, easy enough to do.
I *love* CBs. When I was growing up, we didn't have phones on the island in Canada yet, and we were on the CB all the time. Then they put up a cell tower in Bruce Mines, and now nobody uses them any more. So sad!
My DH is KG6PCM, but he uses it only for hang gliding -- it's the flying to which he's addicted.
As an electronics technician, it's kind of nice to have because it adds a layer of proficiency on your resume. There are more in-depth non-amateur radio FCC licenses that are better to have, sometimes necessary, but every little bit helps.

Okay, which one of you has a working teleporter, and why aren't you sharing it with the rest of us. In the past two weeks at work, I have done double-takes because I could have
sworn
I saw MM, Sean, and DX. Today it was Cass.
Oh, that is so naive to thing someone's using a teleporter. It's much more likely that in the future, MM, Sean, and DX are traveling back in time just to confuse you.
