Sorry, Captain. I'm real sorry. I shoulda kept better care of her. Usually she lets me know when something's wrong. Maybe she did, I just wasn't paying attention...

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Um... huh?

In an interview with the editorial board of the Bucks County Courier Times, embattled Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum has equated the war in Iraq with J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings." According to the paper, Santorum said that the United States has avoided terrorist attacks at home over the past five years because the "Eye of Mordor" has been focused on Iraq instead.

"As the hobbits are going up Mount Doom, the Eye of Mordor is being drawn somewhere else," Santorum said. "It's being drawn to Iraq and it's not being drawn to the U.S. You know what? I want to keep it on Iraq. I don't want the Eye to come back here to the United States."

And no, this is not from The Onion.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I don't know whether to die laughing or just die. Seriously, Ricky? You want us to picture America as Frodo and Sam? Really?

Article that argues the the early deployment of the carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower does not mean we're gonna attack Iran sometime towards the end of October. I think the author makes a fairly-convincing argument, but not 100% so.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Just how BAD does Santorum's opponent have to be, given that Santorum keeps getting re-elected? I'm picturing his opponent as an actual *goat,* or something.

Otherwise, I can't figure how he keeps getting re-elected.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dammit. I almost got away with it too.

Cute Violet Affleck pic.

Were you perhaps thwarted by meddling kids?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Santorum is down about 10 points in the polls right now. His reelection this cycle is looking less and less likely.

I think there may also have been a dog.
