Jayne: What're you gonna tell the others? Mal: About what? Jayne: About why I'm dead. Mal: Hadn't thought about it. Jayne: Make something up. Don't tell 'em what I did.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I suspect I've been sleeping a little too much the last couple days. I'm going to try running on no sleep and adrenaline for awhile.

I've been reading my LJ flist all day long. Skip=950, and I still didn't reach the last post I read. Damn.

Art Crawl!!!

I'm sure that Thumbelina is fine barefoot.

information libertarian

See Rick's post under: reasons I do not have a PhD in Classical Archaeology, #23.

He neglects to mention that in some fields, i.e. mine, you can be in a different random place in the country every year for 5 years or so until you land a tenure-track job. And that's if you're *good*.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh, this is fun. One of our clients just sent us some software that one of their offices had done for them. It stopped working when changes to a different company's software broke it. Turns out the program has a bunch of our code that they illegally used. So I get to modify some of our software that was stolen and used by someone else.

But I'm serious about it being fun - it's interesting to see how they did things compared to our way.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Thanks for the well wishes folks.

I just about died laughing at this. Bonus points: mentions Joss!

Such a shame for her that SG-1 was just cancelled, thus eliminating the prospect of her being cast as an Aztec Goa'uld.

How on earth do they find shoes for Thumbelina?

Would she need shoes at that weight? I wouldn't think 60 lbs. would cause a lot of hoof damage no matter what she's walking on. Plus, practically a lap horse.

Yes, the smaller the field, the more exagerated the sparseness. But still, classical archeology, very cool job if you can find one.

My undergraduate college offered a degree in secondary education for Norwegian language instruction. The awkward part about this was that only two school districts in the country offered high school instruction in Norwegian (Minneapolis and Seattle) and both of those jobs were filled by recent graduates. So they had a major where the next job opening would not be for thirty years. That's harsh.

It's like a treasure trove of unmined fuckupable mythos!

My history professors' tales of how they ended up teaching history at Berea in the first place were enough to put me off the idea of being a professor for at least a couple of years. That shit's brutal.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

You can get the crystal clear clarity thing when you don't sleep at all, too. Except sometimes later it turns out that the clarity was only in your tiny little brain of fog and a) your headphones are in the freezer and b) that brilliant and saleable song you wrote, wasn't.

The status is NOT quo.

I think I am in serious trouble. Coffee still tastes good and makes me happy and staves off caffeine withdrawal, but it no longer appears to be sufficient to wake me up in the morning.

Um. Uh oh.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Kristin, I have done extensive research on this subject, and the solution to your problem is to drink more coffee.
