I just about died laughing at this. Bonus points: mentions Joss!
Yes! I saw that, yesterday. One of the Fuggers wrote for TWoP once upon a time (maybe when it was still MBTV), and wrote the re-cap of
The Replacement.
Her description of Buffy's outfit in that recap left me breathless--with tears streaming down my face, the first time I read it.
OMG, Jesse! I"m glad I'm not the only one who still remembers that. She's such a freak.
I feel like, all this time, everytime anyone's mentioned Fergie (not here), and I've been all "SHE PEED HER PANTS," and they're all, "Whuh?" Now I have the proof.
I don't understand why I can't wake up in the mornings any more. I've been going to bed at a reasonable hour! I blame you people for mentioning the crystal clarity. Oh, also maybe the fact that it's still dark. Ish.
Oh, also, Jess's Overheard made it on! [link]
Whoa. The radio is announcing that a bunch of schools in Montgomery County, MD, are on lockdown because of someone with a gun. No more details then that, but "don't panic, the threat is not considered serious."
The threat isn't serious, but they're on LOCKDOWN?

Oh, neat!

Do you have a link? That's my old school district.
sumi, some teacher friends of mine elsewhere on the internets were discussing the same thing the other day (what with the school shooting meme making the rounds again), and apparently, lockdown is one of the earliest steps a lost of schools take response to a threat, on the theory that if it does turn out to be serious, you can keep the nutter in a contained area, you don't have kids wandering around the halls where you can't easily account for them, and so on -- so it really sounds more serious than it is.
I can't find a link anywhere right now. I'm guessing there's not enough info yet to be able to really say anything.
The most common reason our schools went on lockdown? One of the schools out in the boonies had a coyote or some other wildlife with teeth hanging around the schoolyard and it wasn't clearly communicated that it was *just* at the one school. Never failed to crack me up.
My email is gaslighting me.

That makes perfect sense to me. But in this case, it's multiple schools? That sounds a like a bigger deal. Except if it's like what Sara is talking about.
