Yay for profit!

I can't speak to going out, ita, since I haven't really left the house since leaving work yesterday.

I'm afraid I'm never going to bed, because VH1 is doing Top One-Hit Wonders, and they're only half done, and I love so many of these songs!

ita, I think you should go to the party for half an hour, and then go back home to watch Mad Max.

I'm watching Phantom of the Opera. Complete and utter tripe, but so fun and pretty!

FAST FILM (2003) by Virgil Widrich is one of those films that reminds me why I love animation in the first place: it's a medium in which you can literally do anything you want. This film blew me away when I saw it at Annecy in '04 so I was excited to find that my friends at the Animation Show have discovered it on YouTube. Usually the things that make an animated film great are the story, characters and animation, but FAST FILM is one of the rare instances where a film is great primarily because of its technique. The visuals were achieved by printing out thousands of film frames (over 65,000 to be exact) and folding them into three-dimensional shapes. The paper-objects were then photographed and composited in After Effects. I can't even imagine the effort it took to mash-up hundreds of live-action films, often times with three to four films in each scene, and make it all work in a narrative context. It's an incredible creative achievement.

Wow.

I don't even want to think of the amount of work that went into making this. It's amazing. And very clever.

I'm working the graveyard shift and watching Buckaroo Banzai on my widescreen flat panel monitor while waiting to do the work I'm paid to. Quite fun.

Ooooh. Second-funniest commentary track evah!

I spent way too much money today. But Tower's closing and so I got some super-early Xmas shopping done. And, um, I got me some presents, too. And then I tried to work on the Jericho recap. I managed to get to the credits before my head exploded. So now I'm procrastinating, which means tomorrow's gonna suck hard.

I think I'm gonna finish my beer and fall asleep watching V for Vendetta. Which should lead to interesting dreams.

Hey, I'm here till 6 AM, maybe I'll watch it again with the commentary track.

The commentary track turned me off the whole film. I found it tiresome.

So, hey! Not at bar. Got a migraine on the drive there (it's a gift) and then there was only valet parking, and suddenly it was All Too Much.

On the upside, I put out the garbage, filled the tank with cheap gas, and brought in the mail.
