Gronklies! I should get Chumley out of cat jailhospital tonight. The little bugger should be at least $1500 worth of grateful, or there'll be hell to pay. I expect lots of scampering, purring, and curling up next to me when I need company....

It's already one pm, which is great because I have only four hours until I can leave, leave, leave. I have Heroes and NCIS and the daily show waiting for me at home.

Regarding Studio 60: yeah, the west coast/east coast thing was kind of retconned in this week's episode, but is still kind of a mess. I really think the show should stick to showing us how things are produced and not the actual clips themselves. I'm more interested in the dynamics behind the scene than watch DL Hughley--granted, in a role I like him much better in than anything I've had to watch him in before--force out comedy that is stilted and beneath his actual comedic talent, or watch Sarah Paulson, who I like!, try to be funny in the non-Sorkinesque way. I never need to see the show to believe it is good. I will take that on the information I get behind the scenes.

I guess the thing about it that really niggles at me is that Sorkin should really know better. He's done a television show about a television show and it was excellent. He knows how to write about the behind the scenes, the support that goes into crafting something special and wonderful. Why he refuses to stick with that, when it worked so especially well for the West Wing (I always loved that we so rarely saw the speeches and the Senate and House meetings, etc, because it was the *dealing* with it that was so much more intriguing; and then when we did see it, like the filibustering for the grandad and his autistic granchild, was more poweful for being so spare), I don't know.

That aside, I think that this week's episode had some strong points. I'm glad Steve Weber has a career again, but I can't understand why he and Jordan are on my screen every week. Surely they have other pressing things than this show. Danny and Matt were wonderful as always, and I loved that Danny asked the patriotic question and Matt responding instantly to the challenge and then the tackle at the beach. I can shut out the parts of this show that make no sense, because I'm really there for the dialogue. And the character interaction. But I can understand why it would be frustrating. Also, did anyone else grin ridiculously when the walking and talking camera angle started up again? Because I was like, oh, yeah, this is a Sorkin show.

I don't know. I like everything about it except for the parts about the show.

Totally this. bon, about the ratings, I think they just gained 9%, not 109% -- I'm pretty sure he said they "retained 109%," because they were afraid they were going to lose share. Also, I can wank that the 15 minutes we see the higher-ups is most of the time they are spending dealing with the show.

You know, the trouble Sorkin et al is having coming up with truly funny stuff for the imaginary show skits put into perspective for me what a marvel it is that TDS and Colbert are consistently funny, day after day -- that's a lot of comedy writing and acting in a short time....

OMG so late to work. This morning was just a disaster all the way around -- overslept, had to wash my hair, dicked around, realized at the last minute my dress was too wrinkled to wear, changed clothes, trains were slow, etc., etc.

OK, just had to get that out. Am trying to avoid unnecessary disclosure to my officemate.

If that's true, then they need to be more careful about having characters say things like "11:30 - here we go!" I'm willing to believe it's just lazy continuity, but it still bugs.

Studio 60 -- I haven't watched this week's episode yet, but last week's had a line from Matt about how it was 100 degrees at 8 p.m., and the audience waiting outside, etc., and then something about how it was half an hour until the show started. I just assumed it was live for the East Coast at 11:30 and tape-delay for the West Coast.
