seriously appalling. Everyone should write letters to CBS. since when is random free speech blurbs appropriate on a NEWS program. Good God, does no one have journalists.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Also, this is the same "free speech" segment of the show where they refused to allow Bill Mahr to speak on the subject of religion.
Gawd, it's getting late - I should stop reading this crap or else my anger will never let me get to sleep....
I hate that. I mean sure, I haven't watched network news for 5 years, but I REALLY hate that.
Now I am all wound up. I mean SERIOUSLY! You are gonna give live air time to someone who blames people taking guns to schools and killing people on the TEACHING OF EVOLUTION!!!
REALY! Like maybe untreated mental illness and the stigma given to getting treatment for such in this country, and then maybe I DUNNO the fact that ANY ONE WITH A PULSE CAN GET A GUN! and oh yeah, let's not forget the part where we cover such hineous crimes AD NASEUM on what passes for news in this country so any other egomanical unstable loon with firearms gets the great idea about becoming famous.
OH, right, I almost forgot.
And if it is lack of respect for human life that is a root cause. THEN WHAT THE HELL KIND OF MESSAGE DOES WAR SEND!?!!?!
deleted - not a good use of my energy.
that is not so healthy, so now I yoga and go to bed.
Yeah, I wish I could add something cheery to the subject, but I can't. Entertainment trumps all considerations of what's newsworthy.
We're an empire in decline....
I love it when Jesse gets all bioqueened up. She was superglam for the dinner before my and JZ's wedding.
They do have bioqueen drag shows in SF, incidentally. They call it something else. It's at a drag club, of course, but they feature women who dress Glamoursly and Glitterously.
Good luck, shrift! Take all the interview-ma you need.
OK, are there any evils that the theory of evolution doesn't cause?
Increasingly antibiotic-resistant bacteria?
e coli spinach? High gas prices?
So....Studio 60. I haven't seen the most recent ep yet, but I keep getting hung up on the logistical details. I still really like most of the writing, and the relationships between the characters, but... this show tapes live on the West Coast at 11:30? So it's on in New York at...2:30? AM? Seriously? Also, Thursday night primetime is when movie studios care about airing movie promos. Not Friday at midnight. Because Friday at midnight is when people are already out at the movies. And speaking of primetime, a network president would not be spending all of her time massaging a late night show that airs once a week. No matter how flagshippy the show is, she just wouldn't do it. And dear lord, the whole big "I know how to save the show! We'll put on a MUSICAL!" revelation was just bad. (Note to all writers everywhere -- the formulation "I know how to save the [town/school/wetlands/etc], we'll put on a SHOW!" should only ever be used in parody. For reals.) The writing, the acting, the setup, and that's before we even get to the sketch itself. It's bad enough having to handwave the timeslot, now I have to handwave a mass audience that responds well to agonizingly slow Gilbert & Sullivan parodies?
I don't know. I like everything about it except for the parts about the show. And I wish I could turn that part of my brain off and just enjoy it, but it seems like every five minutes something else happens that completely throws me out of it.
So....Studio 60
Yeah, I'm kinda wishing they were more "Rosencranz&Gildenstern are dead" with the show stuff and just keep focusing on the behind the scenes stuff.
