Allyson -- One thing about buying direct from Apple is that delivery's free and everything, but if it's sent to your apartment you'll have to be there to receive it. You could have it shipped to you at work (if you're allowed to do that, I mean), but I know Johanna had a lot of trouble getting Apple/FedEx to actually do that.
Plus, you won't get it till the end of the week, at best. I still think you should go for the iBook deal at the bookstore, just because it seems like the option that will give you the least additional stress.
My department just discovered the cutting edge thingie that is blogging.

Good luck with the computer, Allyson. Unexpected expenses are of the suck. I'm thankful that the weather has turned warm again because we tried to turn our furnace on last week when it got chilly and we can't seem to keep the pilot light lit. DH shut off the gas to the furnace and we have a call in to our guy, who can hopefully come at the end of this week. I'm just hoping (nearly praying) that we don't have to replace the furnace. No way, shape or form are we ready for that expense.
And asshead still hasn't paid me from my spec work from two months ago. I'm ready to go crack his kneecaps with a baseball bat.
starts the car
He's in Dublin, so it's a short trip. I should meet you there.
Hell, I'm on the south side right now, I'll pick you up.
Hopefully you have your own bat.
Allyson, it doesn't help in the short term, but the cost of the computer would be deductible, no? Now that you're a professional writer, and all.
It's a miracle -- I'm actually getting some work done. However, I am not getting some laundry done. Yet.
I told my boss I might work from home, but it doesn't seem safe to do so before I get my brain back.
I don't know if I'm still out of sick days. Ah, well. Too late.
People are talking loudly about football right outside my office. None of them have offices in this wing. GO AWAY.
