If there is to be an October Surprise, some think it might happen this Friday: [link]
Do you like October suprises? Is there a big bang coming to hit the markets? If you believe that those in the know use insider information before major events then you might be interested on the HUGE number of October 6th put options for the big indexes. Check out the concentrated puts on the Diamonds DOW Trust (DIA).
Ditto for the S&P Depository Receipts (SPY).
And the NASDAQ (QQQQ).
Even the Market Vectors Gold Miners has significant puts for October 6th.
Make no mistake - something wicked this way comes, and the smart money has already taken preventative steps.

A put option, as explained to us many years ago by Distinguished Professor of Economics John Steed, gives a stockholder the right to unload his shares at a specified price within a specified time; it is, in cruder terms, a bet that the value of the stock is about to plummet.
BTW, Tep, you created a monster with Tom. Now we have pumpkin butter AND pumkin granola. Not that I'm complaining.
And yet he denies you chocolate macaroons? He IS a monster!

So I guess this was has day job when not fighting crime with Emma.
Stoopid internets ated my post.
Re: the Amish... there's various types of Amish/Mennonite/Brethren, who appear similar from an outsider perspective, but have varying opinions on technology and whatnot. My mom was raised in a Brethren church, and when she was younger they wore bonnets and the like, but that practice has largely disappeared, at least from their corner of it.
Aaaand now I want to watch Witness.
ION, iTunes is making me cranky. I just want to listen to a freaking podcast, for the love of all things holy.
t /whine whine
I wonder if the number of "puts" will cause the market to fall, just because of the expectations they create, you know? See: voodoo economics.
Why does GG keep having Kirk subplots?!?!?
Also, Eureka finale vs. VM premiere?!?? not fair.
msbelle, msn has been streaming the season 3
Veronica Mars
premiere for the past week. The video is still available, but I don't think it will be up much longer. If you don't want to miss it, but can't miss the Eureka finale, here it is:

Also
Eureka
is reshowing a few times.
In the movie, the kid stole the uranium from a military-guarded installation (not specifically working on bombs) and replaced it with Prell.
Nutty, as Matt mentioned this was
Manhattan Project,
starring John Lithgow, and Cynthia Nixon in her pre-SatC days, but he stole plutonium, not uranium.
Who's picking nits???
To paraphrase a great line from LIFE IN HELL, you're cow-orker's annoying laugh will not get less annoying over time. I'm thinking it goes double if they are one of those people who crack themselves up all. The. Time.
Any suggestions on how to quietly take out someone who giggles-into-horse-laughs at just about every other thing he says?
