Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

How the hell did it get to be October?

Yeah, I think there's supposed to be another month before October. Someone must have misplaced it.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I thought that money was independent of your company once it had been deposited

yeah it is, I just mean co. controlled stuff.

Let's not forget to divide the blame equally between greedy companies and compliant congressmen/women.

oh, absolutely. And in my dad's case, you can also throw in current employees - cause they sold out the retirees and ok'd the co. dumping retiree pensions. I think that may be the worst thing for my dad. He was an elected union rep for the employees and then volunteered for probably 10 years.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Ugh, msbelle. That is so shitty. It makes me terrified for my dad. He's 66 years old and on a company pension since retiring four years ago. Without the pension he and my mom would be in serious trouble. I hope your parents can figure something out (if they own their own home, I'd check into a reverse mortgage.)

DH still has a pension, but the insurance industry isn't so quick to underfund annuities. It just looks bad. But we're not counting on it being there when we retire and saving on our own.

What is even happening?

Step off October, people. It's one of your premier months: colorful foliage, low-stress holidays, little-to-no need for either air conditioning or heat, and actual air in the air.

I think October has been ruined for me, ever since Carl Rove promised an October Surprise.

IOSomewhatRelatedN, transcript of Bob Woodward's interview on 60 Minutes, talking about his book State of Denial. Interesting stuff....

What is even happening?

In October, in New England, there is no Karl Rove, except for people who decide to go the really scary route with their Halloween costumes.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

October is one of my favorite months, because that's when I got married! I actually know a lot of people with October anniversaries, and I am going to a wedding in a couple weeks as well.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think October has been ruined for me, ever since Carl Rove promised an October Surprise.

Until it actually happens, I'll be keeping my spirits up by assuming it's going to be a surprise lobotomy, for himself.

And What Cindy Said, re: October. It's the beginning of fall! Cooler air, changing leaves! Halloween is in it! October ROCKS!

brillig

October is the best month of all, the worst of the summer heat is gone, and the winter storms aren't quite here. Spring gets too hot too quickly, so October wins.
