Hey Hec, I haven't been around, so I just now read about Matilda's arrival! Congratulations! I know it has been stressful, but also very amazing I am sure.
Poor stressy JZ. Things will be much more settled for you guys awfully soon.
It's getting much better. The breastfeeding is actually working pretty well already. Matilda got a good bunch tonight and she's still on colostrum. Once JZ's milk comes down I expect it'll be easy peasey. [knocks wood]
So we had our "celebration dinner" tonight at the hospital. A fancier meal for your last night in the hospital. They had filet mignon on the menu. That's what I ordered. They called back ask me how I wanted it cooked. I told them. And they delivered...pot roast. Did they think I wouldn't notice the difference? Oh well, Emmett didn't like his pizza so we switched anyway, and now he likes pot roast.
Things Emmett Said Tonight:
Me: Her head is pretty much back to normal now.
[takes off her hat]
Emmett: Whoa! It is. Who's got a pretty little head?
Me: Let me know when you want to put the baby down to eat your food.
Emmett: No, I'm good.
[leans down and snuzzles her]
"Hospital dinners are fun!"
[After she was fed and bundled and making lots of eye contact and staring in wonder] "Who's a cute little baby of bogglement?"
He rubbed her forehead very lightly to quiet her down. He kissed her cheeks with little tiny kisses. He sang a wordless "la la la" lullaby to her.
"Now I'm glad I have a little sister."
And when we pulled up in the car and got home, after he'd been listening to his Nano he just announced, "I love Matilda!"
