There should have been a cuteness warning on this thread. The Halloween pictures were almost lethal.

Most of my trick or treaters were small and shy, or less small and well conversant with the theory. I wasn't wearing a costume, but our living room was dark and I was standing at the screen door watching the neighborhood. The littles seemed amazed that the door would open as they arrived. We also had our plasma globe skull in the front window, and that's always a hit.

Here's what I have to say about the pictures: Whoa! We're pretty. Man, I love it when Ple dresses up. And Tep - so gorgeous. You're looking as pretty as I've ever seen you. Aimee, you were absolutely perfect as Rosie. I think you gave Robert Crumb a boner somewhere in France with your Powerful Woman vibe.

Our doorbell just rang and one of Jacqueline's (relatively new) co-workers dropped by to give us a baby present. Very sweet of her. Plus we got super cool monkey slippers out of it! Of course, it'll take Matilda about a year to grow into them. For Halloween she wore the Pumpkin hat that Emmett bought for her. Even then we had to pin it so it would fit, for lo, she is wee.

EM came into the city to go trick or treating with us and took Emmett back with her so I could skip my Wednesday morning commute. Which means I'll be commandeering the baby as soon as she's done feeding and JZ can nap this morning.

Brenda just made me miss donuts as fiercely as I miss the food network.

So, now that Halloween is done, let's talk about Thanksgiving! I wasn't sure if I wasnt going to do t-day or not, but I was just at the store and got a medium-sized turkey for 14 euro, which I figured was a sign that I should cook. So it's in the freezer as we speak. I cannot for the life of me find tinned pumpkin, though, which will make me a very sad hostess. I mean, I can make pecan pie. But pumpkin! There ought to be pumpkin!

My DH got about 12 trick or treaters last night, which is pretty average for our neighborhood. I had to work, which bummed me out because university students dressed in costume are not usually cute, although they are sometimes clever.

I cannot for the life of me find tinned pumpkin, though, which will make me a very sad hostess. I mean, I can make pecan pie. But pumpkin! There ought to be pumpkin!

Have you got a blender, and is there fresh pumpkin available? Because, with those, it's not too difficult to get pureed pumpking the same texture as the canned kind, so that it will substitute in recipes. Without a blender, though, I'm not sure how well it would work.

See, I'm glad you guys recognized the Rosie. I got a lot of, "Great Lucy!" which is cool, too.
