Spike ,'Never Leave Me'

Spike's Bitches 32: I think I'm sobering up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Mostly lurking...

Laura, you remind me that I'm supposed to be going to a yoga class at noon (beginners as well). No time today, though. Oh, well. I'll go eventually. Really.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Things that suck:

  • Waking up at 5:45AM on a Saturday all stressy.
  • On said morning, receiving a heated email exchange between your mom and brother/SiL with a request to "read this and then call me" from your mom.

I wanna go back to bed now.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

GC, that does suck. I second the going back to bed and ignoring them plan.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

The way it works is they set up a page, kinda like the ones for people doing charity walks and stuff, where people can donate money to fund the trip

Hill, what's the address to that page? There are people other than your relatives who think you're doing a good thing.

The one bad thing about student loan debt is that it's about the only debt you can't get out of short of death. Except in very unusual circumstances, you still owe student loans even after you've declared bankruptcy. If it goes to collection, the government can take it out of your tax refunds or garnish your wages, which isn't as festive as it sounds.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I'm at work and battling the ick.

I think Hec sent it to me.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think Hec sent it to me.

I was all done with it.

I don't think you should be at work on a Saturday, though. You should be watching He Man and She Ra and eating Count Chocula and wearing flannel pajamas.

Btw, I don't know if anybody else noticed in the grocery store but they've reissued all the original Monster cereals for Halloween. So Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Booberry and some other one which I forget.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

The Dilbert guide to personal finance, courtesy of Vanguard:

Everything you need to know about financial planning*: Make a will. Pay off your credit cards. Get term life insurance if you have a family to support. Fund your 401(k) to the maximum. Fund your IRA to the maximum. Buy a house if you want to live in a house and you can afford it. Put six months’ expenses in a money market fund. Take whatever money is left over and invest 70% in a stock index fund and 30% in a bond fund through any discount broker and never touch it until retirement. If any of this confuses you, or you have something special going on (retirement, college planning, tax issues) hire a fee-based financial planner, not one who charges a percentage of your portfolio.

  • From
Dilbert and the Way of the Weasel, 2002

Note that saving the maximum to a 401(k) and IRA each year would require significant disposable income so it's not always feasible.
