I'm 17. Looking at linoleum makes me want to have sex.

Spike's Bitches 32: I think I'm sobering up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

{{SuziQ and SuziMom}}

{{HecBrain}} I'm so glad everything is going well and they get to come home on Saturday. You're such a good dad. Matilda is a lucky girl to have the wonderful parents and brother she's got.

Hec, if'n you're in the mood to answer a musical question, Nick has been interested in some music with a jazzy sound ala the demon in OMWF. He wants to find something similar to soak his brain in, but has had difficulty finding quite the right sound. The closest thing I can come to it is the soundtrack to Chicago. Any suggestions you'd like to impart?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh Suzi, I'm so sorry. Much ease-ma to her for the pain, and to you, for the worry.

David, I'm still bouncing a little at New!Baby!Girl! but I do hear you on the sleepnow!sleepnow! brainogram. Squooz JZ for me, and little Matilda, too. And punch Emmett on the arm--and then hug him, too.

What's with all the crap-ass medical equipment anyway? We had so many faulty telemetry monitors and missing cords and whatnot. I'm thinking that hospitals run hard on the profit line don't maintain and upgrade like they used to.

Tell.me.about.it. Don't wanna talk hospitals just now.

I wished Nicole happy elsewhere, but Happy Belated, you! I hope there was cake.

There was probably more I meant to say, but all I can think about is Haircut! This afternoon! And I'm trying to summon and mentally practice the body language and gestures to accompany the instructions:"Too short last time. Shorter than now, longer than then."

Thanks AmyLiz and everyone else. They haven't replaced her central line because she has veins from hell and it was hard enough to get that one in. They have left it for blood draws so they don't have to stick her a million times, but right now it is for output only, no input. She does have another iv line, but for whatever reason, they won't hook up the pump to that. She is pver 3 days post op, so she shouldn't be on the pump now anyway.

I'm just afraid to call her now and I wish she would call me.

I'm sorry for all the fussing. Once again I'm using b.org for my venting cause work is not the place to vent and I have to "be strong" for my family. I already freaked DH out yesterday when I called him crying.

Because books.

You vent here all you want. It's more than fine.

Maybe she *shouldn't* be on the pump now, but if she's still in that much pain, the doctors should think of other options. Older patients take longer to recuperate anyway. Poor Suzi's mom.

Also? Crap veins are so hard. My mom has the same problem. So do I, for whatever reason. I mean, I'm young, fairly healthy, and no one can ever get an IV into me without three or four tries. I went into gall bladder surgery stone cold sober because the nurse had to stop at three sticks, and then the anesthesiologist was like, "What's with you? You have no blood!" Before he pumped me full of Valium, of course.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Suzi, if you can't vent here, then neither can we. And damn if I'ma give up a venting space. So you go right ahead and vent all ya want. Plus we care about what is going on in your life, so we want to hear it.

Suzi, PLEASE feel free to vent.

This is hard for you, and having to be the strong one sucks.

(Oh, Phyllis Hyman, why'd your demons have to win? Such a loss.)

Really, just fill him up with Duke Ellington

Thanks, Plei. Those look good. I could recommend old movies with music, but I just couldn't think of what he wanted. I can't believe I didn't think of Duke Ellington.

As Ple notes, Duke Ellington is a great place to start with that. I think Ella is the best with the uptempo stuff, so probably try her Duke Ellington Songbook. (Though any of her records in the songbook series are pretty fuckin' fab. See also Johnny Mercer.)

I also love Anita O'Day with the uptempo stuff. So something like Anita O'Day Sings the Winners is great.

Also, if he likes the free music, give him the key to Buffistarawk and he can grab all the jazz vocals I posted there for Fay. Under Jazzy Fay.

Great links, Ple!

As Hec notes, you can't go wrong with Ella.
