And I wonder, what possible catastrophe came crashing down from heaven and brought this dashing stranger to tears?

Spike's Bitches 32: I think I'm sobering up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I used to go by...

...

...

Bifster.

Err.

It was ironic and stuff? Honest? And I never was called it IRL.

The other nym, the one I used for years online, was a Red Dwarf ref (Cloister the Stupid). I think I did respond to Cloister. I had a secondary nick for some private pretentious subboards, but again, never went by it IRL.

On the racing boards, before I left in the post-9/11 world (not a good place to be a liberal commie), I went by Delicate Vine (we all had horse names) or DV for short.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Fay is Fay. meara is meara. shrift is shrift. Cass is Cass. What's much stranger, though, is that I think of myself as amych here (but not as a-mitch or a-mick, thankyouverymuch).

I'm much more weirded out by the fact that I'm the first and majority hit for one of my not-here pseuds even though (a) I've done squat to use it in visible places and (b) it's a word, damn it.

I had no idea Sean was other than Sean. Or do you mean that the K is silent?

In non-pseudy news, Fay, the hub and I were just saying this morning that the unpleasantness in Thailand seems so very, very Thai, at least judging by all our Thai friends and acquaintances -- what with the whole "yeah, we're having a coup, with the martial law and all, but we're going to be really nice about it". I'm glad your coup d'etat experiences are matching up.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

{{{Cass}}} Much ~ma for your sister and the twins.

I've always answered to sj, because that is what my family used to call me. I'll also answer to my first and middle name together which a couple of buffistas do and my grandfater does. My grandfather does that because my middle name was my grandmother's name, so he remembers her when he says it.

Edited to add that Big Papi just hit his 50th home run this season! Woo!

Woo Hoo!!! Thanks Jen. I missed the game and you just made a bad night a little better.

Yay, for safe Fay! When we heard about the coup, Teacup Guy asked me, "Isn't that where one of your buffista friends is?". We have both been thinking about you and hoping that you were well.

In mememe news, I should not be allowed to be an adult.

Hey. New board.

I think of everybody here by their board names. But then, I've only met a couple of you that don't go by your real names, and have met none of you more than thrice.

It is 11 p.m. and I have not started writing the quiz I'm giving tomorrow. However, that is because I made dinner for the New Girl and then we had lots of delicious smoochies, so that's okay.

I have been saying for years now that when the grownups get home, they're gonna be pissed.

Both the K and the Q are silent.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I should be sleeping. I've been exhausted all day, and tomorrow I've got to teach the limit definition of derivatives to two classes. (I hate teaching this. It's important to know, but a pain to actually do more than two problems, and everybody in class knows that there's a simpler way to get to the answer. At least we've got new textbooks this year that present it in a consistent way.) Just can't get to sleep, though.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Problem with my real name is that it's so common and already taken by another poster with a lot more time than I have.

Your real name is ita?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I've tried to use pseuds, but I just can't do it.

I am completely slammed with work, so all I've been doing is reading bits of the board while things were uploading. We're moving a huge site to a new host, and I came close to asking for website~ma.

I'm glad it seems to be a fairly peaceful coup. Fay's post reminded me of a letter we got from my older half-sister, when she was in Iran during the revolution. She wrote, "Everything's fine. I'm dyeing my hair and pretending I'm French."

I hope the grown-ups don't show up here. My house is a giant pile of dirty dishes and mail.
