I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Congratulations, Billytea!

And happy birthday, P-C!

JenP, I'm so glad you're done with the treatments. May done=done for ever and ever, amen.

I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy about my current job (last day=Thursday). I'm not sure I want to spoil that by doing any actual work. That's valid, yes?

What is even happening?

Deena, Kara's thank you message was one of the more precious things I've read in a long, long time. I love five. It's a very sweet age.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

And now I'm quoting Calli.

That's valid, yes?

Anything that gets you out of work works for me.

Thanks, Cindy! It was so cute. She started dictating and I started typing, and she'd pause, so I'd put the period and the end quotes, and then she'd start talking again.

She said this was the best 5th birthday anywhere in the world ever! I was worried that it wouldn't be good enough. She wanted everyone in her class to go to a Chuck E. Cheese party, and we really couldn't afford that. But she got to play with her cousins for a couple of hours, get presents she really likes from the older relatives, go to Chuck's with her family--and big brother took her around to play all the games! She loves the birthday greetings from the board; she thinks that's the coolest thing ever. Finally, she got the Furby she's been wanting forever. So, very good birthday.

Before I forget. Happy Birthday, your Polter-Cowness!!

Deena, Kara is a rare delight. Which is not surprising at all considering her parentage. Also, I can not imagine any event you planned would be lacking in any way. Kara was smart enough to realize that; you need to wise up to your splendiferous ways, too!

Calli, you have the Bitches permission to develop short-timer's syndrome. Less work, more fun!

Thanks, Sail. It's nice to be appreciated.

So far this morning has been filled with gronk. We woke up late; it's pouring rain outside; Greg got his panties in a twist about everything; Kara wouldn't stop talking to her furby long enough to get ready; Aidan wouldn't eat his breakfast; Greg got to work on time, but Kara was late. I had a wee fugue moment on the way to Aidan's school and then got a little lost trying to get him there after I woke up again; After I dropped him off and restarted the car, it made a clunk noise and now it has a suspicious tapping sound; I have a headache and the dog has eaten one of his stitches.

I'm hoping the car just needs a drop or two of oil, the vet will see the dog as a drop in, and everything is fine right now. I'm warm, drying, and finishing my first cup of coffee. If the headache would go away I'd be doing much better.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

DEENA! BOING! (for the rest of you too, of course, but I haven't posted with Deena for a long time).

eta: Deena, Err, I got interrupted, or lost time or something, since I didn't see your post before I posted mine-- I hope your day gets better.

Congrats Billytea!

Cass, I'm glad some family healing was done.

Sailaweigh, did you get email from me last week?

Lee, I'll have to check when I get home. Was it about anything other than prezzies? If so, no.

Nope, that was the one.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I'm feeling burned out and asked my advisor if I could take a short break. He said yes, I could take anywhere from 1 to 9 weeks, if I wanted.

Aimee - if you are getting financial aid, double check with your financial advisor before you take a long break. You don't want to accidentally mess that up.

Lisah = hottie!

Billytea and Wallabee!!! Yippeeeeee!

So glad others are having reasonable starts to their day. I need a cave. In addition to having no ATM card today (perils of having a teenager), which means no gas for the car or lunch money for me, I had a wheelbarrow fall off the truck in front of me on the freeway making me vear into the next lane over which was occupied by another very large truck, luckily driven by someone with good reactions. No damage to either vehicle or any occupants, other than racing hearts.
