I've finally gotten through the first 3 episodes of FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS and I gotta say I love it. The deadpan of it just cracks me up, as do the boys "dance" moves.
I meant to ask if anyone is watching it. It's brilliant.
"He may be dead!"
"But what did he may be do?!"
It's brilliant.
It is. I love the musical numbers so much. I need to check up on the story behind this, because it's so random I'm amazed HBO picked it up.
You should check out their special, which is OnDemand if you have it. It does have a lot of the songs in the show, but you should enjoy it anyway.
I thought it was a little random that HBO picked up an act that isn't well known in the States, but as Jessica pointed out some time ago, they had a BBC show (maybe a radio show?), so they're not that unknown a quantity. It is akin to their picking up Ali G. And a few of the producers on the show are from Ali G., Mr. Show/Tenacious D., and Garry Shandling/Newsradio.

I don't think I do, but thanks for the head's up. It will be available in some format at some point (or HBO will re-run it when they re-run the episodes).
Most of the special is on YouTube, actually -- in bits and pieces, but still.
The rap number while they were getting mugged had me on the floor.
I'm the motherflipper!
GF and I gave up on JfC after the third ep. I was somewhat intrigued, but the bad acting and grossness of some of the dialog was enough to kill it for me. Depending on what I hear, it may be a renter when it comes on DVD.
We're enjoying Big Love this season. I hope there is more Rhonda! She kills me.
Rhonda's a piece of work, all right. I was sure she was gonna get her assed kicked for taking that jacket, and I still can't figure where she thinks she's going. Surely not to Barb, not after getting sent to th shelter. I tend to think that she'll get eaten alive out in the real world, but she's got incredible cunning.
It's nice to see a more sympathetic side of Nicki. I hope that losing her family at Juniper Creek will improve her relationships with Barb and Margene, but her father will probably pull her back into the fold somehow. I don't complete understand what went on with her mom and the tape - was she hiding it the whole time? That older wives from Juniper Creek are such interesting characters and so hard for me to understand, I have to reason my way through what their emotions might be most of the time.

Yep.
I have Twenty. Six. Dollars. in food stamps.
Exactly.
Thanks for the clarification on the tape. I guess she had me fooled while they were looking for it before the hearing, I thought maybe she had found it later and just hadn't had a chance to get it to the prophet or the DA or whatever. And she's Albee's mother, too, isn't she? What a web of conflicting motivations.
