So after three eps, The Tudors is officially disappointing.
I think my main issue with it is that, unlike Rome, the creators seem to have no interest in creating dramatically interesting reasons for historical events to occur. Everything that's happened has happened because that's the way the history went -- these characters don't seem to have any relationships or motivations of their own, as people. Makes it very frustrating to watch.
Oh, Jessica, that's good reasoning. I was wondering why it wasn't pinging my radar as hard, but that's spot-on.
I'll probably watch it, just 'cause it's like eight episodes or something. But probably not for a second season if they were inclined to get one.
Every time I think about it now, all I think of is "HENRY THE ROCKSTAR!!" in an arena-rock sort of feeling.
Anyone watching the last 9 Sopranos?

Yup. This episode was sorely disappointing. Weirdly slow and strange lines. It's not much of a set up. But I've gotten used to uneven quality with some eps.
Entourage was much better.
You think? I was glad to see the ducks reappear as a motif, and the Bobby stuff could go somewhere interesting.

I agree. It just seemed like the whole episode was set up. I got bored with the monopoly game because we've seen Tony do the push-the-limit-cross-the-line thing with his family before.
The ep fell flat for me.
I liked the first few eps of this season when I watched them a couple of weeks ago, but I can't really remember now how the eps were broken up well enough to have an opinion on the premiere. (They were definitely slow going. My favorite bits all involved Christopher and his movie, because Chris' hobbies crack my shit up.)
Ah, I really enjoyed the monopoly game, in large part because my usual Sunday night for a good while was going to play monopoly and watch the Sopranos with friends. I think less set up and more action would have been hard for me to handle after the long hiatus, really. I never did get around to refreshing my memory as to what everyone was up to when last we saw.
Didn't watch the Sopranos (I did DVR, but I'm seasons behind on it, so I probably should just wait for DVDs), but I did watch Entourage. Loved seeing Carla Guigino (sp?) again (I always love seeing her - can we PLEASE get Karen Sisco DVDs).
Can someone tell me why the hell Debi Mazar gets such a prominent credit? Am I not recognizing her or something, because I'm pretty sure I didn't see her at all last night (and I swear she was only on for 5 minutes spread throughout the entire last season).
I hate that I'm missing the Sopranos but we're back to no HBO and my usual connect forgot to tape it for me. I ahemmed a couple of Deadwood episodes that I missed last year and my ISP called me to say that HBO put my ISP address on a list of naughty ahemmers (we agreed that it was almost certainly the fault of the college kids next door taking advantage of my unsecured wireless network, wink wink), so I don't think I'll be doing that anymore.
