It was extremely satisfying.
Premium Cable: The Cursing Costs Extra
[NAFDA] A thread for the discussion of all original programming on HBO, Showtime, Starz and other premium channels.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Oh my yes.
I didn't need to post twice
(A) I am pretty pleased with myself for not watching last week's episode until today.
(2) The Court of Winterfell rocks justice hard
(iii) I get that if you have the opportunity to stick a zombie dragon on screen you almost have to take it, but I am still very upset. The dragon has three heads!
I really want to see the alternate season 7 of GoT, where all of the character's actions in the finale made sense based on their actions in the rest of the season's episodes.
Heh.
I'm so not emotionally involved in this season, it feels like a bunch of non-canonical fanwanking to me. Sense-making not required.
Arya saying she was the executioner made me wonder where Ice is - it's two swords now, right? Widow's Wail (does Jaime have that one? I vaguely recall we've seen it recently but I don't remember where) and...another sword?
Oathkeeper. Brienne has it. And, yes, last we knew, Jaime has Widow's Wail.
I've been kinda feeling like I'm watching mostly to see if they can stick the landing with all the crazy threads and hints and corners they've painted themselves into -- I'm glad it's finally building to SOMETHING rather than just aimlessly wandering around every corner of Westeros (both this season and hopefully next), but I find I'm so so uninvolved in the cast of thousands and spend at least half the time eyerolling at the main characters...
Oh, look. Blue-eyed dragon. Oh, look, more incest. Oh, look, Cersei is manipulative and Jaime is stupid.
(Although I do apparently care deeply that GILLY READ THE THING NOT SAM YOU DO NOT GET TO TAKE ALL THE CREDIT FOR THIS SAM I HAVE LOST ALL RESPECT.)

ARGH YES THIS. STUPID SAM.
And seriously, Jon Snowgarryen does not deserve the Iron Throne no matter who his parents were. He makes terrible choices. The first thing he did as King of the North was run off on a shopping errand and then bend the knee to Dany so he could get in her pants!* He should definitely not be in charge of all Seven Kingdoms!
*Wondering how Westerosi Urban Dictionary defines "bend the knee". Assuming it's something Littlefinger had on the menu at his old brothel.
The smart move for Cersei at this point would be to marry the Night King and get herself a zombie ice dragon to ride so we could have Ice Queen vs Fire Queen in the final showdown. Sure she'd be dead, but at least she might win.
Golden Company - isn't this where Da'ario went? I can't remember if he's still alive TBH.
Theon - do. not. care. Conversation between Jon and Theon about which of them has made worse choices in life? Amusing as fanservice, but OMG DO. NOT. CARE. ABOUT. GREYJOYS.

This season was not strong with the continuity of characterization, no. Or logic, or actual sense. But like I said, the finale gave me what I wanted for the only characters I'm actually invested in, so I'm (mostly) happy.
(Well, the other characters I'm invested in are Brienne and Tormund, but I don't expect the writers to actually do anything with their throwaway interactions.)
