Watching some House of Cards, because I can. i only watched the last season a couple of months ago, but I sure don't remember what all happened.
I never read the Outlander books but when it came out on iTunes, I gave the first half of the season a try. HOLY HELL! Watched all the eps. (Bought them in two video formats so I can keep one on my Android tablet, the other on my AppleTV) and have now read the first three books.
Yikes.I now want to do nothing but talk about it and convert more people to watch.
Cashmere, I'm currently listening to the 8th book and have listened to all the others at least 5 times each.
I do like the series and feel like Sam H is a better Jamie than I expected. As much as I like Caitriona Balfe though, she really isn't my Claire. Too gamine. I also don't love that they spend so much time focusing on the drink aspect.
Honestly, I don't know how they can cram the books onto a screen anyway. SO MUCH detail. Which is what I love most about the Outlander world.
Still, the series is gorgeous to look at. And the background cast is so good.
Knowing the books in crazy detail makes me feel kind of ooky when I lust after Dougal. But lust I do!
Graham McTavish makes Dougal seriously sexy.
One of the things I like is that the writers of the series really try to include little things like bits of dialog, even though they have to cut bits of extraneous details. By they way, the iTunes version of the series has extended/cut scenes like Mrs. Fitz' use of leeches.
It's richly produced and the cast is wonderful. CB is a wee slip of a thing but Sam Heughan breathes Jamie.
Cashmere, ping SA. She fell the same way a few weeks ago.
I'm on book 5 of the series and mostly been listening to the audio versions narrated by Davina Porter who is just marvelous. And I frequently co-read digitally with ebooks. So lengthy, yet so darned engaging! And I can't get enough of the TV show tho I also have Issues with the casting of Claire as such a slight slip of a woman with apparently more of a drinking problem than an earthy delight in whiskey. And I'm not so sure about the casting of Frank/Randall. He has the brutality right up front but seems to be missing the charming charisma...and TV Frank went to a really dark and violent place that I didn't see in the books.
