Gunn: Well, how horrible is this thing? Lorne: I haven't read the Book of Revelations lately, but if I was searching for adjectives, I'd probably start there.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Penny Dreadful, when does it air? I saw the pilot, but then it looks like the next episode isn't until the 18th according to my teevee. Is it wrong?

Because books.

I thought it was this weekend but I'm not actually sure since I don't have Showtime.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Yeah I think the first episode you have already seen officially airs on the 11th. Any airing before then is a "preview". The 2nd does indeed air on the 18th. I'm too cheap to upgrade to Showtime, and probably too cheap to get it via Netflix or itunes or whatever once it is available. But one of a handful of shows that makes me regret not having premium cable.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

He had her poison him, AND had her write to Catelyn telling her that she suspected the Lannisters

Thank you! I knew she'd helped poison someone and she'd written a letter, but not the deets. Amazing.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Jaime's motivation for sending Pod with Brienne is to shield him from going down with Tyrion's trial and execution. Because Cersei is perfectly capable of getting people to torture Pod until he confesses Tyrion's guilt.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Theo, absolutely, and it makes perfect sense for the plot and characters. It still amuses the shit out of me.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Impassable mountains - useful defense against dragons?

I'm betting "no" because flying.

Via AWOIAF, Marten will will address this in the upcoming World of Ice and Fire (spoilers):

The Arryns (also at this time ruled by a young boy and his regent mother) sent a massive army to the Bloody Gate and then high-tailed it into the Eyrie. But Visenya Targaryen simply rode her dragon up into the courtyard of the Eyrie and the regent rushed outside to see the young king seated on the dragon and begging her for a ride. The Arryns surrendered and the king had his ride.

Hah!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Danny's going for her "Ruling" badge. It's a shame none of her advisors have much experience there.

This also brings up for me how Danny has barely any control over the dragons. So she is having a leadership struggle over the dragons and her "empire."

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

And the cities of Slaver's Bay are easier to control than dragons.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Dany is not aware that she is a Level 4 Sovereign, so she thinks taking on a Level 12 dungeon is a Good Plan.
