Well, that was one of the better True Blood's I've seen in a while. Terry's funeral was touching and the crosscutting to the rescue of the vamps was nicely done.

This season seems really diffuse even compared to usual (and more half-assed) but I liked this episode. Granted, I did miss a bunch of mid-season shows due to the involuntary relocation (I don't know where Rutger Hauer went, for instance) so it may have been a better or worse episode than I saw it as.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I found the flashbacks kinda boring, but the service itself quite sweet. Given that I don't particularly like anyone on the show, and had Terry mixed up with the shifter until way recently--I wasn't expecting that.

(I take that back--I love Lafayette, and wish he had a plotline. How amazing was his outfit for the funeral! Sheeit.)

I so wish Lafayette were doing something (anything) other than being everyone's sassy black gay friend (and occasional caretaker/nanny/babysitter) this year. He is far and away the best character left on the show, although they are working on slowly bringing Jason back from the horrible things they did to him as a character starting from the whole werepanther plot. That's a plus. On the flipside, they completely destroyed Alcide this season. I can't even look at him anymore so trashy and ridiculous was the whole pack master adventure.

I don't care for Bill (or Sookie) for that matter, so I was sad to see him not get assimilated into the Lilith collective. But I guess he and AP are a package deal? Who knows. I am also over Jessica's new vampire Mary Sue boyfriend, who is not only a vampire Jesus but also looks a little bit like Jesus, too.

I was glad to see Lettie Mae back. I miss her crazy ass. And it will be kind of interesting to see what the Bon Temps-ians do with all these vampires who can suddenly day walk. Overall, though, I've been underwhelmed by this season. Again. Some more. There haven't even been all that many naked people. For shame, True Blood. When you can go several episodes with no naked Jason Stackhouse, then something has gone terribly, terribly wrong. You mean to tell me that the Prison Queen Bee vamp had him as her bitch and personal food truck and she never once got him naked? It defies all logic.

Seeing Jason laid out like a piece of meat for multiple snacking made me think of the were-rape he "deserved" before. He's the most pathetic of the non-characters, because they toss off any explanation for his changeable character, and it never feels like anything is about him either.

I almost liked Eric. He's kind of amusing. Very balls to the wall with everything, which is appreciated.

Sadly googling "lafayette funeral true blood" gets you a lot of pictures, none of which have the great hat/tie/eyeshadow combo from last night.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

God, he looked great!

I hated the flashbacks, but otherwise the funeral was okay, I guess. I'm kinda bored with all the storylines right now.

See, there was a time late in S1, from about the time Jason and Amy kidnapped Eddie and then Jason developed all the feels for their poor captive all the way through S2 and the first iteration of the Fellowship of the Sun when I frikkin' loved Jason Stackhouse. Yes, he did dumb shit, but he did dumb shit that made sense for him to do based on what the show had established about his character. And mixed in with that, he also did incredibly brave shit and loving shit and heroic shit that was also very much in character with who he was. And he had real relationships with Hoyt and Sookie and Andy and even with Bill and other vamps and the whole Sarah/Steve/Jason dynamic was fascinating. In fact, I'd say Jason Stackhouse was probably one of the only things I liked about the horrible Maryanne/Maenad season.

What's happened to him since then has just been full of stupid, for the most part, and in a way that just doesn't match up with S1/S2 Jason. They tried to hand wave it away this year with the head trauma, but four seasons worth of head trauma? Yeah, no.

Has he not gotten helplessly possessed by someone's ghost and tried to kidnap or kill anyone yet this season?

Jason did go in to save Jessica (among others I think, but she was the main impetus), which goes a long way with redemption for me 'cause I still love Jessica.

I miss what Jessica and Hoyt had, before they fucked it up, and I'm glad Hoyt's gone at this point, but I still love Jessica.

Ha!

As far as Jessica, I still love that redheaded baby vamp. She's the best thing Bill Compton ever did.
