Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

I love how proud Davos is when he finally gets to the end of that damned sentence.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I liked the little touch with the word "dragon" being a Westerosi sight word.

[Meaning, for people without kindergartners, it's a word that's used so often that kids are taught to recognize it as a full word unit rather than being encouraged to read it phonetically. "Dragon" was the only word Davos didn't have to sound out.]

Hee! Thanks for the translation. And yes, that is a very cool little detail.

I also love how he never quite got his mouth or head around the dragon's name (Vhagar), a High Valyrian word.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Real leeches don't hurt, except emotionally -- their mouths secrete an anesthetic so you don't notice them. And the wound they leave keeps bleeding for a while, because there's also anticoagulants. Pretty neat except for the part where they're feeding on you.

Anyway, kudos to Sophie Turner. Who is playing someone so fragile and miserable. Sansa has been so emotionally battered that when a reasonable human or two (Margaery and Tyrion) comes into her life she can't trust enough to confide in

I also feel like I should speak up for Jack Gleason (aka Joffrey) who has one of the most thankless acting jobs and carries it off so well.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Joffrey is excellent and so hateable. He really does a good job.

Everybody in the cast seems compelled to mention as often as possible that Jack Gleason is the sweetest, nicest guy you'll ever meet. Which is absolutely fine, because Joffrey really is the worst, and he's wonderful in the role, and very much deserves to be seen as a separate person from that horrible, horrible little shite.

The actor also has been experiencing a lot of harassment and has contemplated leaving acting. So I think people are protective of him.

I read in an interview with him somewhere that one of his inspirations for Joffrey is Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator. I can see some similarities in the physicality of the characters.

G-d, people really, really suck.
