Aaaah! Little Shireen Baratheon singing Patchface's nonsense song!

Last week's and this week's are probably good ones to watch back to back. The two of them together contain some of my favorite scenes from the books.

Also, I really have to say how much it friggin' thrills me to death that every single one of the songs has made it into the show in one form or another. Shireen's song over the end credits is (as yet) the only one that hasn't also been sung by a character within the body of the episode.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

She sang it a little bit when we first saw her in her cell, the verse about the birds having scales

By the way, in the books the Unsullied would draw a new name by lot every day, consisting of a color and a vermin. Grey Worm chose to remain Grey Worm because it was the name he drew on the day Daenerys Stormborn set him free.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

But that's seriously cuckoo bird.

Yeah, the whole "and here is my collection of miscarried fetuses" bit? Not in the books! Yipes!

Does she know that "the son" Melissandre gave Stannis wasn't so much an actual son as it was a shadow demon assassin? So not, you know, helpful in the heir department?

Shireen was way too pretty, but such is television (see also, Tyrion). I loved that she was reading Dunk & Egg!

Tyrion & Sansa are engaged! One of my favorite book plotlines. And Cersei and Loras, which I think is a change - I remember Tywin insisting that she marry again, but I don't remember him having picked out a specific husband for her.

On rewatch, I noticed that one of the three fetuses is named Edric (She names them, cuz just keeping them wasn't cuckoo bird enough). Nice! A tip of the hat to Ser Not-Appearing-in-this-Film Edric Storm (another of Robert's many bastards, all of whom seem to have been condensed down into Gendry).

Right?

Shireen was way too pretty, but such is television (see also, Tyrion). I loved that she was reading Dunk & Egg!

Right? Although I like how they did like the Greyscale on her face. And yeah, I was pretty geeked about her reading Dunk and Egg too. I wonder if that means they'll have Meera Reed tell Bran the tale of the Knight of the Laughing Tree at some point.

I remember Tywin insisting that she marry again, but I don't remember him having picked out a specific husband for her.

I think he suggests the same Ser Also-Not-Appearing-in-this-Film that the Tyrell's offer Sansa in the book, Willas Tyrell (the eldest Tyrell son, who is lame in one leg from a wound, and only really appears by name in the books). He also suggests Balon Greyjoy, and Ser Probably-Appearing-Next-Season, Oberyn Martell, (of Dorne, who gave said wound to Willas).

Speaking of this whole marrying Loras plot, I do have to say that this change bums me out a little. In the books, Loras is all, "Once the sun has set, no candle can replace it," about Renly's death, and joins the Kingsguard, happy to be celibate for the rest of his life (although, he's young).

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that the squire seducing Loras is a Kettleblack, and if he is, that would be pretty important.
