I've got the premium cable but it's all I can do to keep up with regular cable like Justified and The Walking Dead.
Is anyone watching Lucky or Luck, the new HBO show? Worth making time to see?

Java,
I watched the pilot and that was it for me for now. It was too much. Too many characters, dialogue a bit too difficult at times to get through- horse lingo. So I might try again this summer.
Luck is sitting on my DVR unwatched, except for the pilot. I also found the pilot confusing and hard to follow, but the people in it are good and I have heard people praise it. So I might still give it another chance, probably when there is nothing else to watch.
Okay, I love Luck.
But HORSIES!
I think I'm not a good judge of this show.
Also, apparently Escalante is based on Julio Canane. (Judging by things HRTV commentators have said in passing. . . i.e., calling Canane "Escalante".)
I'm watching Luck but I do find it hard to follow. So many characters and story lines, and so few of them straightforward, but now and then they throw me a little exposition to help me out.

Luck canceled following death of 3rd horse. (The first two died as a result of filming racing sequences - the 3rd one reared while being led back to the barn and fell over and cracked it's head.)
I am reassured that Mo Ryan says that Luck does have kind of conclusive ending for most of the arcs in the show.
