not a lover, but i like it enough to *ahem* it(since i don't get HBO). i'm kind of hoping they'll spend a little bit more time on the teenagers storylines next season.

There was an article in the Sun yesterday about how HBO is upset about the bootlegging of the whole current Wire season. Some of it was about illegal downloading and there was some indignation about spoilers getting out and about on the internets but the part I thought was interesting is that people are selling bootleg DVDs in nightclubs in B'more as well as other big cities around the country. They are big sellers evidently.

Also, I had a very Wire-esque moment on my drive home yesterday. Saw a guy running and getting taken down by one uniform and one (I think) undercover cop in the parking lot of a grocery store. very dramatic for the afternoon commute.

I am tiggy, both with the teen storylines and the margene-love. It doesn't hurt that there is Lilly, Mac, and Beaver from Veronica Mars in the teen cast.

HBO and David Milch are back in business. The network has greenlit 12 episodes of "John From Cincinnati," a surf noir family drama set in Southern California from the "Deadwood" creator-exec producer. Production begins in November for a premiere next summer.

HBO has ordered 12 episodes of Milch's latest drama John From Cincinnati, which will revolve around the seriously screwed up Yost family of Imperial Beach. Dad is a former surfing star, Mom is definitely dispirited, and their son is addicted to drugs. Enter John (um, from Cincinnati) who shows up at the Yosts looking for surfing lessons (rather mysteriously no less) as well as a guy who is looking for revenge against the Yosts for a personal vendetta. Hmmmm, is it a coincidence that the two men show up at the same time?

John From Cincinnati, which begins production next month, stars Austin Nichols, Bruce Greenwood, Rebecca De Mornay, Brian Van Holt, Matt Winston, Greyson Fletcher, Luis Guzman, and Ed O'Neill. (Talk about a great cast.) Series is expected to launch next summer.

So was on the commuter train this morning, right near the door, and two fifty-something women get on at (I think it was) Swampscott, and I overhear:

Woman1: mumble mumble...what's the name? Swearingen?

Woman2: (in the affirmative) Swearingen.

Woman1: Swearingen?

Woman2: Swearingen.

Woman1: Ok, Swearingen. I'll have to...mumble mumble

It took all my self control not to yell "Swingen!!" and hold up my crossed fingers right then and there. I did snort-laugh audibly.

I have a very good friend named Swearingen. It takes great restraint on my part not to do this very same thing every time I see her. I keep urging her to watch Deadwood so I can at least do it once.
