I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

still love Sookie rescinding vampire invitations. she was actually pretty badass in this episode. it was a welcome change. loved when she grabbed "Talbot" and turned the disposal on.

that ending though? stupidstupidstupid.

i'm also glad they killed Calvin after corrupting his character so much.

Art Crawl!!!

How about her evil laugh when she did that?

That was startling.

The ending was just. .. wtf?

Yeah, the giggle seemed kind of off. I liked her "negotiation" with Russell, though. That she just invited Bill right in when he came to the door was annoying, but I guess that's the only way to get the dramatic rescinding. I don't know what to make of the ending but I'm not intrigued, either.

The Hot Shot storyline and Sam and Tommy, I do not care for either.

Heh. It's what I've feared from the beginning.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Man, that article was a laff riot. I know they needed to give Jason and Lafayette something to do, but if they cut out those storylines, this would have been tighter.

Aww, even with all the dead weight plotlines (Tommy Mickens, I'm looking at you!), I liked this season (including the finale) so much more than S2. Things I really enjoyed about the finale:

  • Russell, the crispy critter - I just love that crazy, funny little man. And bravo make up people. I was creeped out and laughing all at the same time.

  • Evil Fae Sookie tossing Talbot's remains down the garbage disposal - Sookie going darker, not full on dark but not sweetness and sunshine either, would be a very good thing. This reminded me of how much I liked her putting the beat down on Debbie Pelt.

  • Alcide - Anything. Everything. More, please.

  • Hoyt/Jessica - Love those two crazy kids. What with the creepy baby doll and his crazy, now gun-toting, mama, I can only see more heartbreak ahead for these two. But they are love. My heart's gonna break if they shoot Hoyt.

  • Bill trying to be a crafty mastermind and still getting fucked by Eric - Oh, Bill. So stupid and you're not even all that pretty. It's sad for you. Did he really think Eric with what amounted to a silver bracelet on his wrist was going to be the same weak kitten as a 90% burnt to a crisp, silver chain around his neck wearing Russell Edgington overcome by grief and pain? And sending a human against Pam? Really? Tsk tsk, Mr. Compton. Still Eric got the chance to continue to be awesome and tragicc and a bastard all at the same time and gave Pam another reason to bitch about how he's ruining his hair (shout out to the early season highlight disaster?)and gave Evan Rachel Wood the chance to be as good as she's ever been as Queen Sophie Anne (which is a low bar admittedly, but still)

  • Brujos United - The whole Jesus and LaLa storyline lost steam there at the end. Probably needed more Alfre Woodard. Still, I'm intrigued enough to want to see more from those two next season. And Arlene's witchy friend, too.

Things I did not like:

  • Clan Mickens - Sam possibly, maybe shooting Tommy in the back was slightly shocking but nowhere near enough payoff for the whole tedious storyline. I'm still with the not caring.

  • Tara in the worst wig in the world - I just can't anymore. I hope she drives off in that car and never comes back. But since that's probably not going to happen, she better come back prepared to kick some ass. And without the wig because really? Ummm, no.

  • Jason, King of the Hotshot Crew - I love Jason Stackhouse. I do not care anything about the Hotshot people. I have not been given much of a reason to. Crystal is cute and all, but from what we've seen her inbred family kind of sucks and does nothing but cause drama. If the show wants me to care about them, I'm going to need more to work with than skinny, pasty folks in Daddy Micken's undies and bad teeth.

  • The criminally underused Brothers Bellefluer - So we leave Terry in some kind of baby induced fugue state and Andy contemplating V-addiction? They're better than that, the both of them.

So on balance, more that I liked than that I didn't like (though not by a lot). And with a little effort, they could turn me around on a couple of the didn't like fronts. I want to get behind whatever Jason has got cooking and he's at his best when he's letting his instincts as a born leader take over, so the Hotshot stuff could turn around. The Terry/Arlene/Rene's baby storyline could actually be interesting and provide some character growth for all involved, but Terry needs to find out how Arlene really feels. So long as Tommy is more than mostly dead, Sam can only get better.

I don't know. I didn't hate it, you know?
